Thankful and Grateful Day

 1. The cooler weather gets me into trouble. Because of this, I am thankful for Ginger Snaps. But not any ginger snap. Only Nyakers, a Swedish gingersnap . These are so light and crisp and they are perfect with a cup of hot tea at bedtime, herbal of course. Grateful for this delight and the fact that World Market had all the cookies in their store 20% off.

2. Thankful my wits are still about me and I could write a small tribute to Rose at my Tata's Cottage blog. She was a funny feline and she was always stealing chicken if she saw and smelled it nearby.  Missing her this day, one year after her passing.

3. Thankful for tic tac toe. I found a Christmas version of this silly game. I was in my garage searching for other things when I came across a mismatched box filled with "stuff" including a deck of cards which are a CHRISTmas trivia game and a Santa Face with tic tac toe scores on it. It was fun playing with the hubby. He beat me at three games of rummy and one out of three Tic Tac Toe. My score tonight: Zero! I am still thankful that we play.

4. Thankful for soft blankets and fluffy pillows to get through the wintertime. It seems our temps will rise into the 50's but we never know when the next storm will pass through. Grateful to have heat and a roof over our heads.

5. Thankful for 6 dogs all snuggled in for the night. Leo on his bed, Thor cozy inside a plush dog bed and Finn stretched out on the carpet downstairs where it stays very warm in the wintertime. Lulu and Mollie and nestled inside Rebekah and Zach's bed. They are burrowing! Funny Roxanne was a little burrowing Chihuahua too.

6. Thankful for new dryer sheets. I do not normally use them but Bounce has a new sheet that claims to rid you of pet hair. Hey, so far it works. Plus they smell very nice too. Smart person who invented those! What a great concept and grateful for it.

7. Thankful for Thanksgiving coming up. Grateful there will be a turkey carcass. It makes the best soup. In fact, I may get a rotisserie  chicken to make a pot of soup. Always grateful for the smell it fills in the air and all the yummy veggies and noddle's or rice that make it complete. I can still see my mom preparing a pot of chicken noddle soup. I can see my blind grandmother cutting those handmade noddles to fill the pot with such goodness. I am so thankful.

8. Thankful for dopey Hallmark CHRISTmas movies. Nick gets a kick, he laughs when he takes his breaks and lunch saying "Mother, are you watching dumb CHRISTmas movies?" Yes I am. I Love them! They always make you smile. Grateful.

9. Thankful that even though the days are shorter and the air is colder, it is good to simply be alive. I try not to fall into the trap of negative news and drama worse then any soap opera ever filling your T.V> screen. I am thankful to know in my heart and in my mind, only GOD is 100 percent in control and HE will ultimately prevail when this world fades away.

10. Thankful for photos We have many so we have a nice history of our lives all woven together like pieces of a quilt or threads in a tapestry. I need more walls so I may put them everywhere. It is something that makes me incredibly happy and for that, I am grateful.

My former mother-in-law used to make turkey soup. For weeks(?) prior to the event she'd start saving scraps of foodstuffs in her fridge, resulting in a real medley of delish.

I'm smiling, remembering when you used to talk about Nick coming home from school .... the two of you enjoying lunch together and how you were dreading him going off to college. Gosh, that seems like yesterday.

LOVE this Dr. Seuss quote. That's gospel!

Loved seeing the gingersnaps you featured. I love all things ginger and these
look wonderful. I've been adding ginger to foods whenever I can, including waffles this morning. Not quite gingersnaps, but yummy. Take care!

Like you, my Sweetie just loves those Hallmark movies. A beautiful list, as usual.
