HAPPY TUESDAY and MORE

Happy Tuesday I wish I could get the video of this girl up. She is a little "Pistol Packing Petunia".  She had gone to the front door and licked it. Her grammie Noelle very nicely said "Shea, don't do that.' Shea proceeded to go to the other side of the glass and lick that glass fast like a fur baby take s a drink of water. She is something else. Then her papa said, "Come sit by me and be quiet." very nicely because she adores him! This is what she did. "You be quiet, here let me help you!" This is the girl Dr. James Dobson had to write the "New Strong Willed Child: book about! That sweet face is a real crack up. She has a very good partner in crime. It is my grandson Blake. I heard they shook down all the kids at her house Saturday night for toys the other kids were playing with. Blake is very verbal and if you tell him something he does not want to hear he says "I'm not talking to you anymore Grandma/Grandpa/Shea. Just fill in your own blank.  Come to think of it, I wonder if Dr. DObson had some ideas from both of this toddlers?!

Maxine, are you thinking of me? I do this at least once a day! Where is that phone when I need it. If the person I am talking to catch's what I said, they will say,  in a snarky tone, lol, aren't you talking on it? Oh H U S H!!

February flew by. We will see if March agrees and flies away too. It is our windiest month so hang on to your hats! Sometime the snowiest too. Shhhhh.......

Have a wonderful day.

MARCH

March winds will fly

They will blow away your hat.

Somedays will be snowy,

So don't forget that!

The weather will be wacky,

The  Ides of March are near.

A date with Spring is blooming

But keep your winter coat and boots.

As Spring will turn to snow or

Sometime it rains and showers

But remember April is near

Then you will have a full bouquet

When May flowers do appear.

PRAY FOR UKRAINE

 Aw...Mondays

The Sunflower is  the national flower of  Ukraine. Someone I was in a Spring Seed Swap with once sent me sunflower seeds and told me as a child her dad planted sunflowers and told her to notice how sunflowers look upward to heaven. I always remembered that . My favorite Aunt Ang loved sunflowers. I could never get sunflowers to grow in our yard.
Love is....reminds me to take life and love one day at a time. Also keep your eyes upward.

"Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and he glory of the Lord rises upon you.
  See darkness covers the earth,
and thick darkness is over the peoples.
but the Lord rises upon you,
and His glory appears over you.
Nations will come to your light,
and the kings to the brightness of your dawn." Isaiah 60:1-3

Feline Friday and Pink Saturday

Feline Friday

Don't bother me, can't you see I'm trying to sleep? This is one spoiled rotten to the core cat! He has the most disgusted look on his face if you interrupt his rest. But he thinks nothing of interrupting others. Such is the life of a feline on Friday.

This was a Pinterest share I could not refuse to share! Yep, that is certainly a feline's life!

Our mail slot drops our mail directly into our house  but if I could have this one outside my home I would love this shade of pink. Please visit Pink Saturday

Thankful Thursday and Friendly Fill In's

What is there to be thankful for?

Lots of things: I need to get back to going through my day and  finding all my little thankful's.  Wednesday was a tough day for me. Thinking about my sister Pat all day and enjoying the company of my sweet little Lulu. Thankful both of them were/are in my life. My big sis was kind, she took all the lonely kids in and friended them. Thankful I had her as long as I did. She was real lifeline. We would talk and laugh and cry all together. It is sad all my phone a friend/sister/mom days are no more. They all went to heaven instead. - Sharon, Vivian, Pat, my mom. Thankful for all of them. I do have Bea. She will be 92 in May. She is so cute.  Always calls and says "I hope you and Avery aren't sick." I sure love my visits with her. She is very interesting and we always have lots in common.

I wrote this poem for my sister Pat in 2015.:

My sister, my friend

Gone from my sight.

Never from my heart.

Like a star on a cold dark night

I feel your presence there,

My heart becomes light.

Missing you with all my being

Loving you always

Until we meet again

In Heaven's home.

I am thankful I once wrote lots of poetry.

I love quotes and these are some that remind me of my sister Pat:

I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one,

might not leave such stillness. Emily Dickinson

Sweet is the voice of a sister in the season of sorrow,

and wise  is the counsel of those who love us. Benjamin Disraeli

A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit,

a golden thread to the meaning of life. - Isadora James Patterson

Thankful that I like remembering my sister's life.  Please visit Thankful Thursday

Each week Ellen and her co host  Lorianne host this weekly fill in. They each decide on two sentences to use. Ellen does the first two, Lorianne the second two,

Here are this week's answers:

1.________________is the ______________est I have ever been,

2. I really hate going to ______________.

3. While most people______________I, _______________.

4. I'm glad that ______________was invented.

Here are my answers:

1. Today is the quietest I have ever been.

2. I really hate going to the dentist and these days, doctors too.

3. While most people trust Science, I trust God. Without Him Science would not exist.

4.  I'm glad that  Reynolds Wrap non stick foil was invented. I love it!

Patsy Clairmont from Women of Faith posted this quote by Carol Kent. It is perfect for most people and their people who can often wear you down.

Please pray for Mary, she is the wife of my nephew Gary and needs a kidney transplant.  She is a sweet gal and has suffered so much. I pray and just hand it allover to God.  Thank you.

Bittersweet Memories and A Birthday for Lulu

I had to redo my post for today to share my sister Pat and my pup Lulu. My sis went to  heaven 21 years ago today. My sweet pup Lulu turns four years old today.  Oh how my daddy loved his first born child and first daughter. He was so handsome and so proud, holding her in this photo. I am grateful I have some photos to remember them by.

Today I am most thankful for my beautiful sister Pat. She passed away 20 years ago today.  She was a wonderful big sister, she  sewed like a dream, was lots of fun and had great faith. She and her husband Gary raised up five sons. They had three grand daughters and two great grand girls. She was not here long enough to know them all. But I have told some of them about her. I won't let them forget her.

My sister was the tall girl in this photo. My late cousin Ron was next to her, cousin Charlotte and our brother Bill.

I hope my sister is enjoying heaven to it's fullest. She was too kind for this earth and as my grandmother would say, "God always takes the good ones." Missing you Pat and missing our phone conversations and letters.

My girl Lulu turns 4 years old today. She will enjoy a steak with her phamily.  She is a funny little girl. She has grown into such a beauty. She has the best ears and her coat colors are gorgeous.

I love you Lulu! You are the sweetest girl. You are a good momma to your two babies who are growing up so fast too. I hope your day is perfect.

Aw...Mondays, Happy Tuesday

Aw...Mondays

My sweetheart made a pot of pinto beans and ham. Rebekah and Zach had gone to their monthly dinner with Jacey and Colton and Ryan and Kaylee. Rebekah made homemade corn bread. It was truly good home cooking. Thanks Love is...

Happy Tuesday It is more like a frozen ice tundra Tuesday but I always find something happy about it. I am grateful to be indoors. where it is warm and toasty. My heart hurts for the homeless, who are turned outside everyday at shelters if they can even find one that has staff. No matter what people think of the homeless they are God's creations too. Government has money for such ridiculous stuff yet nothing for the elderly, homeless and unborn babies. Someday God will explain it all.

"Do not neglect hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:2

Helping others, even in the most minor way, always makes me smile because somedays you walk around and see sadness everywhere. I don't like it, so I at least smile at others. I like to say a kind word too if I have that opportunity. A lady was struggling to reach an item on the top shelf so I gave her a helping hand. We smiled, she thanked me and we went on our way. But all those little things we can do add up to making someone's day brighter. I like thinking about it. Spreading happiness.

Feline Friday and Fun

Feline Friday

A comfy, cozy little corner of quiet.

My friend Bea turns 92 this May. She told me today, I get up each day and I pick one thing to do. I want to be like Bea. (SMILE) Visit Beverly and the Pinkies here: Pink Saturday

The cold months are some of my favorite times to enjoy a cup of hot tea. Are you a tea or coffee person? Whichever you chose, having a favorite cup makes it even better.

"Tea to the English is really a picnic indoors."

"Sometimes all you need is a good cup of tea."

"The Adventure begins with tea."

"Where there is tea, there's hope."

Happy Birthday to Brody! He is four today. we will celebrate with him.  He has grown up so quickly and is such a kind and smart boy. I pray he has the best new year with his new birthday.

Brody is a "Puzzle Master". He can put together and take apart these foam puzzles in a matter of a few minutes. He is very passionate about it too. He also loves his siblings, Addy and Blake and he loves all his phamily. There was a video of Brittany's dad having a surprise party last weekend. He was so cute when I said I saw the video of his Papa and him. He was so curious, he said, "Grandma why weren't you and Grandpa there?" He is always thinking about others. But they had celebrated several birthdays in Brittany's phamily so they had lots of people there to celebrate. Brody is just a kind heart. Always concerns himself with the well being of others. I wish him the best fourth birthday ever!

  •    We watched the boys Tuesday evening. They put this foam puzzle together. Brody has a knack for puzzles. He is so sweet when he completes one and always chooses a favorite!

  • Dad Jeremy and his two boys.

THANKFUL ThURSDAY

Thankful Thursday Join Brian and friends today. There is always something to be thankful for.

Avery and I headed out to do some errands SONday morning. Everywhere we went, we had a thankful experience. I like to remember those because you find other kind souls with a smile or a kind word. It is easy but somedays we have to search longer.

Have you ever had a morning like t his ? This fuzzy feline could have been our Rose. She was one strong willed Cat Girl!

I felt like her yesterday watching Blake who turns three later this Summer and Shea who turns 2 this Spring.
I hope you are thankful for something today and enjoy each moment you are given. Take care.

Happy Tuesday Tuesday 4 Maxine Cracks Me Up and More

 1. What was life like for you as a child of elementary school age? Friends, games, TV, music, food, interests?  Tell us about it won't you?

This is me and my husband Avery when we were in the kindergarten. I attended parochial school, Saint Mary's Catholic School from k to 8. Avery attended  Spann Elementary School. He has been best friends with Tom Firestone since they were in the second grade. They talk on the phone at least once a week, and they act like two teenagers! It is refreshing to see my husband reminisce and laugh out loud with his buddy.  I was very shy until I turned 12. Avery was a typical boy and they rode bikes like we did. I love reminiscing . Some of my lifelong friends from school I keep in touch with, Carole Dean and Carol Jean, Boyd, Richard, Judy. Avery and Tom have remained close since the 2nd grade. They have seen each other through tough times. But they love laughing and talking about current events as well as their memories. Both of our mom's were stay at home when we were small and they cooked many of the same dishes we prepare today. SMILES!

We were in the third grade here. I highlighted our photos in turquoise as that was the color of the sweater I was wearing. I have vivid memories of my wardrobe even though we wore uniforms at Catholic school.

My sweet husband in the 4th grade. He was a snappy dresser back than.  Still has the sweetest smile. I was wearing glasses in the 4th grade, I might frighten you with that photo but I had the cutest outfits from Crews-Beggs Department store, girls section. He is wearing a sweater, I wore a a red knit jacket with a pleated navy blue skirt. I am grateful for the memories and the ability to remember so long ago.

2. Moving along to the teen years would you mind sharing some of the same things with us? What were you interested in?  What did you watch on TV or listen to on the radio?  Tell us all about you as a teenager.

I was a Central HS Cat behind big blue in 1972 and he was an East HS Eagle! He was into wrestling and I loved skiing.  Avery was a sprinter who ran the hurdles. I did not get into running until after school and did not compete. Music was everything to teens back than.  Roberta Flack sang  "The First Time ever I Saw Your Face".  "American Pie" by Don McLean and  "Brand New Key" by Melanie were in the top 100 when we graduated from high school. But in 1972 my father-in-law Carl read an article that asked high school seniors across the country what one thing they wish their parents had done differently. The largest majority of students said, I wish my parents loved me enough to tell me no and take a more personal interest in me. Avery & I were blessed. Happy that our parents took that interest.

Avery's Mustang, boy did he love that car! He owed two of them and wishes he still had them.

3. Would you share your college or young working years with us?  Did your interests change or grow in your late teens or early 20s?  Did your friend come or go?  Did you live at school or home or have a place of your own?  So many questions only you can answer.

I attended college for two years with the intent of being a Special education teacher. I left school to work full time at the Pueblo County Courthouse in the County Treasurer's Office. Avery attended two years also and we were both at Southern Colorado State College in our hometown. He opted to travel and worked as a hod carrier on the Eisenhower Tunnel up in the mountains . He traveled and lived in Las Vegas, KC, and  Provo Utah where he hung out with friends who attended Brigham Young U. I lived at home until 1983 when I came to Denver to live and work.  Same friends, in fact, Lynette, one of my longest friends from childhood as small toddlers, just shared a conversation with me today. We have many good memories.

 4. And lately... what are the topics occupying your mind right now? How have things changed in your life in the not to distant past. Are you okay with the changes?

We have a nice life.  We have had our share of trials and loss and sadness but somehow we muddle through it all together. We'd rather be with Jesus but we hope and pray we will be when HE returns.  We watched two little ones yesterday, Blake our 2 1/2 year old grand boy and Shea, our 21 month old great grand girl. Oh the stories we have to share. Both of us have a very solid relationship with Jesus. I am grateful, happy and thankful all in one that God sent this incredible man to me.

That wraps up Happy Tuesday here too.

Oh Maxine you always have something to say on all subjects!

Aw...Mondays and Love is...

 Aw...Mondays

I'm always happy when Snoopy is around. I have been off my game these past few years.  I use to send my phamily Valentine's from Loveland, Colorado. I really need to get back to that. It was always fun to receive a Valentine in the mail with a new poem stamped on the envelope. Hope you are all having a wonderful new week, a Happy Monday and a wonderful Valentine's Day.  I earned about Saint Valentine when I attended Catholic school

Love is ...says it best. Kisses!

Thankful Thursday

 Thankful Thursday

My friend and former blog buddy  Diann recently received this cookbook from her sweet better half Troy. What a lovely gift. I have searched for this book too. I recently found it and am waiting to thumb through the pages.

I had these wonderful paper dolls of Dinah when I was a young child. My mother and I watched her show together. Those were such simple times. I am thankful for them.

February is a busy birthday month for us. Tomorrow Harrison James turns 6. No way, but I am thankful for this boy and watching him grow up. He is going to get a trip to Disneyland I heard. shhhh.......
