THANKFUL THURSDAY and MY BOJON HERITAGE with Friendly Fill In's

 Thankful Thursday

Pikes Peak From My Childhood Window

I was sorting laundry earlier and suddenly sat down and cried. I was missing my mom. Missing my aunt Ang and missing my grandmother. I stopped to visit a childhood friend at social media. She was missing her mom too! Her grandma, her two aunts. Carole was raised in an unconventional home with 1 bath room, three sisters, a mom, a grandma and two aunties! She is one of the best people I know. We met at school 65 years ago! Oh My Goodness! A long while ago.

So I stopped to be thankful for everyone and everything in my life. Then I thought about the best view from my childhood window: Pikes Peak. Looking out our living room window at the empty lot across the street and seeing the most majestic view a girl could see! Pikes Peak, all 14,115 feet above sea level. Stunning!

In high school a friends mom drove us to the summit of Pikes Peak so we could watch the Peaks Pike Hill Climb Race. I was 16 and trucking up that mountain was breathtaking. It is a fond memory I am very thankful for.

The past few weeks have been filled with problems, home repairs, more car repairs, something always happening. But I remain thankful . Grateful to be able to to fix everything. More thankful to keep my mind occupied on all the little things.

Flowers are simply magnificent and yet so simple. My husband loves the sunflowers. I have tried to grow them without success. We will try again. So I don't think he will see this post but....I bought a new comforter for the bed for his birthday. But it does not arrive until next week. So....he does not know about it. I will change the comforter and our curtains later in this month so we can enjoy it into the Fall. Thankful

This silly Mister Kitty a/k/a/ Tiger came to live with us on June 21, 2013. He was 10 on April 30th. Boy has he changed. But he sleeps at my feet and he is a good source of thankfulness when he fires up his engine and lets me listen to him purr.

Much to be thankful for because August is filled with many happy occasions. Jeremy born on August 9. Zach born on August 13, Nick born on August 20.  Blake born  30 of August.  Alastor Avery will be gone five years on the 4th and Roger would have celebrated 24 years of marriage with Noelle, August 27th we are very thankful that they were in our lives.  we never known the number of days we have on this earth so appreciate each person, each moment and most of all tuck those memories inside our hearts!

THANKFUL THURSDAY

 Thankful Thursday

My post today is simple. I am thankful Roger survived the brain surgery. Now he has more battles to fight but I will be confident in the Lord.

.

I bought this cute photo box to store photos in. It reminded me of Dr. T's dog Lily the beagle. She told me today that Lily passed away. She was with her phamily for 14.5 years. Run free Lily, you were such a dog girl Thankful they gave her such a nice life, running on their farm enjoying farm animals and lots of delicious garden foods.

I found this photo of auntie Ang and myself from the 1970's. We were visiitng the son and his wife of my mom's cousin at their Westcliff, Colorado ranch. They brought their prize winning bull up on the lawn so we could all geta closer look at him. Let me tell you, he had the absolutel life of riley. He lived in a huge comfortable heated and a/c barn and had his pick of hundreds of lovely ladies and spent his days mating. What a crazy life. I once had a boss who said if reincarnation exists he wanted to come back as his prize race horse "Rocky Wins-A-Lot".  What sillness! Apparently rocky was living the high life like that big ole bull too. Auntie Ang liked being away from the crowd of people so we hung out in their family room for a spell. Thankful for my memories.

Mr. Moon was up there in the sky at 5:30 this morning when I rose from my slumber. It looked so pretty with the red and orange skies. THANKFUL

Now I am thankful for a good night's rest. Sweet dreams everyone.

Thankful Thursday

 Thankful Thursday

My friend and former blog buddy  Diann recently received this cookbook from her sweet better half Troy. What a lovely gift. I have searched for this book too. I recently found it and am waiting to thumb through the pages.

I had these wonderful paper dolls of Dinah when I was a young child. My mother and I watched her show together. Those were such simple times. I am thankful for them.

February is a busy birthday month for us. Tomorrow Harrison James turns 6. No way, but I am thankful for this boy and watching him grow up. He is going to get a trip to Disneyland I heard. shhhh.......

Loki and Thor turn 4 on February 12th.

Our beautiful daughter-in-law Brittany has a birthday on the 15th.

Brody Edward follows her on the 18th.

My little sweetheart Lulu turns 4 on February 23.

Other February birthdays are Angela (9th), my sister-in-law Joyce (16th) and my dear friend Sherrie (19th). Our DIL has two brothers and her dad all born in this month as well.  It is a popular birth month.

Thankful for all these wonderful people and pets  and celebrating their birthdays! Any February birthday's ?

This red velvet cake is so beautiful for a February birthday. It comes from 1800Baskets.com Simple but so elegant.

Thankful Thursday

Did I mention sometime I go back to sleep after Avery leaves for work and I wake up to this guy staring at me and sleeping next to me, like aminature person? He is very protective of me. Either that or he is afraid he willnever see his breakfast and dinner without me! I am very grateful he chose me, even when he is super annoying and whining like a tantrum throwing toddler!

Pajama Day at school! This kid is something else but he makes me extra THANKFUL to be his grandma.

Noelle and Roger are headed home near the Eisenhower Tunnel watching some snowflakes fall in the mountains. But this was their fancy birthday dinner at Oscar's Steakhouse last night.

Can't have a birthday dinner without a dessert! They had a wonderful trip and really enjoyed the getaway.  THANKFUL they will be home tonight. Safe travels kids and see you soon.

Morning comes early. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and be THANKFUL!

I am trying to catch up with comments. I will be visiitng you soon. Thank you for being here for me too.
