GRATEFUL

It is rainy here. But I love it. It doesn't love my sinuses or allergies but I love the cool air. I love seeing the fog float across the sky. If it doesn't flood, I will love it more. But being grateful, It is a gift. Everyday something beautiful surrounds you. Someday's you have to look a little harder to find it but trust me, it is there.
Social media is filled with this toxic feeling. Nope, not here. Do not want it.
When I feel negative and I have! Especially over the weekend and the Kentucky Derby. But I can still love the beauty in all the magnificent horses. I can not change the world, I can only be better where I am. I saw something sweet recently.
I read a piece about a young black teen shopping in a Dollar General store. He completed his purchase and noticed an older white woman struggling to get out of her car. He set his purchase down and told his cousin he was going to help the elderly lady in the parking lot. His aunt video taped him without his knowledge. The lady apologized. Said she was a bit shaky but needed a few items. He took her arm and guided her into the store and helped her shop. He said he was a bit taken back by the number of grown people who just ignored her. I emphasize their skin color only because we hear so much negativity but very few of these types of wonderful stories.
I always feel better when I can hand out kindness. It is free and it feels good to do it.

Celebrations

Three years ago today these two kids were married. It has been quite a journey so far. So glad they have each other and their cute little phamily.
Their wedding was a wonderful affair. They had a bit of snow just like we are having today. I am happy that our find his "one and only". My Sweet hubby and I will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary in a few days. Grateful we all have this celebration and happiness and love flowing in our phamily.
Our official phamily portrait from the wedding.
My favorite: Love is....they always have the right words to share.
Best advice for young married couples. Marriage Box.
Mr. Kitty also known as Tiger is 6 today. He shares his birthday with Brittany and Jeremy. He is taking a nap, his favorite thing next to eating and taunting the puppies.

He was such a timid and shy kitten. Ha Ha Ha! Until we brought him home. Than he took over. He is a bed hog, he prefers only fresh drinking water from the faucet. But he has an incredibly kind heart.
He and Roxanne were very close. When she became so ill he rarely left her side. When she passed away he howled and mourned the loss of his beloved friend.

Memories Are Made of This

My mother told me many times this story of herself and her sisters waiting for the weekend so they could turn on the radio and take turns dancing with  their daddy. It hurts my heart that he was gone too soon from their lives. Tragedy knows no boundaries, no color or economic class, nothing. It steals from the very soul of those who know nothing but love.
Their generation had hope. That one day they would meet again. I can guarantee my momma is dancing in heaven with her own daddy and sisters.
Helen Keller was a remarkable woman of faith.
I do not know who the taller gentleman was but Ambrose was my parents boarder. He was an old bachelor and my folks had kind hearts. Mom took good take of him.
One of my maternal grandfathers sisters. I knew her as Mrs. Frances M. Her true name was Francesca. My grandfather was the lone boy with three sisters.
My daddy with some of his siblings and his parents.
My brother eddie (left) and cousin Kenny (right) and my sister Mary (angel). My cousin, the twins have both passed away. What a sweet photo at the Catholic parish where my folks belonged.
My Tata Rose, on her wedding day approximately 1908. My grandmother is in the back row and my grandfather is holding my Uncle Louie who just happened to be born in 1908.
Almost everyone loves the weekend. Enjoy yours!

A CAT AND GOD AND BUCKET LISTS

A share I had to pass around. It was too cute but so truthful!
I found this mug at Target for fifty cents. I think I really got a bargain!
This one too. But this one made me think, stop fretting over blogger and the fact that comments won't appear. Just blog anyway and have a backup journal on line.
This made me smile. I keep my bucket list private but will share this: we are heading to the Florida Keys this year, God willing. Since our son-in-law Roger grew up there we are trying to cajole him into being our tour guide. Also an 8 hour drive to Epcot isn't phasing this girl. Actually to get to the Epcot Center from the Keys requires 633 miles or 6 hours and 35 minutes of drive time. But I should stop, this is not exactly cajoling him into being our official tour guide. Shhhhh.......
Rebekah wants to get her daddy to the beach. Unlike me, he has not been there. I have vivid memories from my visits to the Gulfport in Mississippi. Watching  boats and such travel past my window from the hotel in New Orleans, pre Katrina. Remembering my late brother-in-law Gary dragging me into the middle of the water at Myrtle Beach, SC. It was beautiful once I realized he was not going to let go of my hand. California beaches and of course, Galveston. Do you know that seagulls will poop on the head of a small child? They just do not care. Now until the day she passed away, my Auntie Ang claimed that I yelled out a curse word or two! My parents were saints, bonafide saintly people who, in my lifetime with them, never heard either one utter a "bad" word. My Uncle Louie was a master of cursing. Particularly in traffic and since he took everyone of us kids to the Dairy Deluxe in Bessemer for a Bongo Banana in it's heyday, I am sure we all picked up a few inappropriate words. I know I did for a fact. I can still feel the taste of Lifeboy soap being grated across my teeth by my mother. Something she only had to do one time. Spitting soap between your teeth is nothing to dream about! The taste never leaves your mouth.

This is something I am hopeful for in this new year. If you read  my blog but don't comment for whatever reason, this is a perfect blog for you. If you comment, and I love them, I will find out how to make them magically reappear again.
