Aw...Mondays and Birthday WIshes

Aw...Mondays

Although this meme photo is not Rebekah Michelle #34 but rather an experience I had with her when she was born. Not wanting to make up her mind to be born or not to be born! That was the question!  I am sure grateful she decided she wanted to be part of our phamily. She loved Shakepeare and studied him intensely in college. So I borrowed the expressions 'To be or not to be'... It is from Hamlet.

Happy Birthday to our beautiful daughter on her 34th trip around the sun!

Oneof my favorite things about Rebekah is that she was able to speak to my dear friend Sharon in the summer of 2018. Sharon passed away in 2019 and Rebekah likes to honor her at summer holidays by creating Sharon's Trifle" The first one she made was perfect and it is a phamily tradition.
Photo memories always make me smile. I hope you will continue to visit here. It has been a rough few months with Nick and his health ordeal. Now that his hemogloblin numbers are up and praying they will continue to shoot upward, I have some relief and can breathe again! Thank you all for your support.

That's our girl, the dancing queen. Love is...always knows exactly what I Need to say.

Rebekah wishing you many more beautiful birthdays with your sweetheart at your side... Zach!

Birthday WIshes and Aw...Mondays

Today our oldest girl Noelle and her husband Roger share a Happy Birthday! They drove to Las Vegas to spend some time away from work and the day to day hassles of life. Happy Birthday to our kids! Phamily is such a precious part of our lives. These two have three kids, 11 grands and one goofy doggy.

So Roger and Noelle have matching shirts. I know, it is quite an honor that they want to be like her dad Avery and me. Thanks kids! You make us proud!

Can you say Aw...Mondays ? This is Piper their girl. She was spayed this past week so she is recuperating with other phamily.

My husband is my rock. He is kind and faithful and logical. He is a real live Super Man.  Love is...always knows exactly what I need. We spent the past month unwinding and Avery is back to work and feeling energized. He is such a good person. A great dad, sully grandpa and greatgrandpa and all around great guy!

I have spent most of my days in prayer. My list is long and grows longer each day. Everyone needs prayer. I ask for prayer for Linda and David who lost their son Liam this weekend. My heart aches for them. Prayers for Mary my cousin who is healing from surgery. Prayers for my cousin Ken recuperating from a hospital stay. His wife Kay is a real prayer warrior along with their son Paul, a local pastor in Pueblo West. Ken has been a real trooper through the years and has had some serious health concerns. I am grateful he is getting stronger each day. COusin Chuck, recuperating with this daughter Julie (RN) from a fall and broken hip. Chuck shares July 23 as his birthday with Avery and my late day. He is a really good guy. Prayers for Ryan and Ed, both law enforcement officers along with Lee, Sissy and Felix. Their job is never an easy one. There are many good cops so do not be fooled by untruths. I know many kind hearted cops who help other with no regard for recognition. I pray they are all safe. Prayers for the Wheelers trying to get their two triplets Nancy and Daisy home to join brother Charles and the rest of their siblings, Eppie, Thomas, David, James, Aaron Jr, Amanda and Aaron. An amazing phamily with tremendous faith. The girls need to drink their required breastmilk so they can go home where brother Charles is wondering, where are my sisters? Eppie is the oldest and she is getting to an age where life can overwhelm a girl on the cusp of growing up. Pray for her too. They are such wonderful people.Prayers for Janna and Brian as they navigate new parenthood with baby Finley Grace. Sarah and Evan as they proudly show us their two year old Jack and his new sister Emmerson. Beautiful healthy girls these newborns.

" Rejoice always, pray without ceasing,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. " 1  Thessalonians 5:16-18

Aw...Mondays and More

Aw....Mondays I found this photo on a page at social media where I scan items about my hometown. My big sister Pat had one of these, they called them a gossip bench. They were designed to sit and "gossip" on the phone I suppose. To me, it is a very nostaglic piece of furniture and I have had my big sister on my mind. She would celebrate a wedding anniversary this month. But 20 years ago she went to her heavenly home.  She left in February, our mom in Novemver 2001. But I have memories, lots of precious memories and when I saw this silly ole bench I thought of my big sister. She was a rarity in this world. Just pure of heart, kind and very funny with the best laugh in the whole world. I often think of her and how I would love to pick up my phone and dial her number. We always had the best conversations.

You just can't start Monday without Love is....

Aw...Mondays and Love is....

This is the bus station in my hometownof Pueblo, Colorado. They had a very nice lunch counter when I was a young working girl. Have you ever traveled by bus? Although I prefer train travel over all other types of travel, I once rode all the way from Pueblo to Alabama for my cousin Tommy's wedding. My mom took me and her sister, my auntie Ann took my cousin Joanne. I remember our mom's packed a lunch and my cousin and I still laugh about it. I don't think we were 60 miles out of town before Joanne and I polished off our portions of that delicious  fried chicken. As a 12 year old, I wasn't too concerned about the hours we rode on that bus but today, there is no way I would want to ride a  bus. Back in those days if someone stirred up trouble. the driver called ahead and stopped in the next town with a police escort to take that person off the bus. Times are sure different today. Stop by and visit Aw...Mondays

Love is...apparently never rode the bus across country.

Sweet Dreams!

Aw...Mondays with Love is....

Aw...Mondays

Please forgive me. I am having a tough time coming back to my real life after two weeks of fun with the kids. I miss my husband when he heads off to work tomorrow so I Just do not feel like doing anything at all. I will accept reality soon and be back to my daily routine.

Avery is the best back rubber, back scratcher. I am going to miss him this week while he heads back to his reality. AT least we can soak our feet together in the evening and have been doing that for the past 3 months.

Happiness is always a better choice than sadness or chaos or simply being overwhelemed.

Happy Fourth of July 2021

God is Good. He let us see some amazing fireworks right in our own yard. It was a good day, a wonderful evening. A good life. Thankful and Grateful for all I have. Many memories flood my mind on 4th July 2021. My father always had a huge bucket of cold water standing by with the hose ready for any emergency. One year, the neighbors directly across the stree from us, must have purchased over $100 worth of fireworks and those kids were so excited, someone dropped a match into the paper sack. Man oh man, that was the best fireworks show I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Rebekah had cut down that H U G E bush in the backyard. Zack set up the windmill in it's place. We still have more work to do, repairing the little fence around it and pruning the trees. But all in all, the yard looks good. Please visit Aw...Mondays In our personal lives, we have many Aw....moments and Mondays too!

I could not have said it better myself. Love is...rocks!

Zach photo bombed us and SnapChat stuck the heart directly on his face. It is was too cute not to share it.

A favorite verse for reflection on this day and what it means to me.

I am so grateful Rebekah spoke with Sharon on the phone last summer going over the particulars for her recipe for this Trifle. Rebekah added the blieberries to create the flag with 50 blueberries. She really worked hard to make this perfect. In memory of Sharon Ann Hayes, one of the best cooks I ever met. I will share my photos of more dishes including Zach's fabulous cooked all day to melt in your mouth ribs. What a blessing I have in this bunch of people I love and cherish.

Click on this photo to see the whole bunch of us. I love La Familia 2021 July 4th.

Love is...know best, I had to show it off twice!

Sleepy Time Tea for me to lull me to sleep since people can not stop their explosions of fireworks all over. Osha Honey with Sleepy Time Tea for my honey who is trying hard to get some rest. Sweet Dreams, Goodnight, Rest Well all.

Aw....Mondays and More

Cat people, is this statement truthful? I thought I would share it for Aw....Mondays It gave me a chuckle.

Love is...no other words are needed.

Another Father's Day tribute, this time with dad and his girl -  Hannah who will be here with Jake in a few weeks to celebrate her milestone birthday. We are so excited. As I find and sort photos I will always post more. I Love this phamily. of mine. Each one of them.

Powerful words for the men who raised their sons and daughters.

Oh how some child and their spouse exaggerate ! I do not do this!  But I hope you have a wonderful new week and a sweet and restful sleep. Praying we are here tomorrow.

Aw...Mondays and More

Jeremy took Brody to this car show and he got to sit in the Jurassic Park vehicle that was used in the movie. This child is fascinated with cars! We entertained Blake at our house. He was such a good boy. We had tons of funs, lots of bubble, mac n cheese and watching silly cartoons too. I hope you will visit Aw...Mondays .

Love is...makes me so happy! They sure know what is important.  Always a smile maker with love.

Kindness is just love with its workboots on. ~Karen McCullah and Kirsten Smith

I want to share kindness, the kind that Jessica Marie Baker would spreading throughout her short 46 year life. She was not dealt a winning hand in life but she turned that around and made everyone in her path a better person for kind heart and positive attitude.  Jessica was a food server and she worked hard. She made eveyrone from her co workers to her customers feel better. I wish you could read all the messages her phamily received via social media from people everywhere. Never an unkind thought or deed or word passed from Jessica to others. I will treasure my moments shared with Jessica. She was pure kindness. Going to miss you from this life sweet lady.

More kindnesses in memory of Jessica.

We were wishing Rebekah a happy birthday today and I realized these girls were born in the wee morning hours- Noelle (2 A.M.) Hannah (1 A.M.) and Rebekah (3 A.M.). Jeremy was born at 5:45 A.M. and Nick at 4:00 in the afternoon. Nick making a statement I suppose!

Goodnight and sweet dreams.

Aw...Mondays and More

If you are sad, Loretta will make you laugh out loud. She has that knack for making people happy. She is a native of New Mexico and she shared this. The original Blake's Lotaburger opened in 1952. Now I am very curious. Oh Loretta! But this sign did make me laugh out loud.  Thanks Loretta...

Here was the original Blake's (1952). If you go here: lotaburger.com you might get a hankering for a good burger. I wanted to share this for Aw...Mondays

A Monday morning share that also made me smile out loud! LOVE is a great healer!

Some words that have helped me lately...

If you know Chonda Pierce, she has not had the easiest life either. But these words she published here touched my heart and I wanted to share them.

Kathy Ransom, thank you for these words today.

Hoping each one who stops by, will have a wonderful new week and enjoy each blessing that comes to you. Thank you for being here and I will catch up with each one of you. These past several weeks have been difficult. But laughter and friendship, phamily  and Jesus help me heal.  Thank you,

MAY 2021

Yes I am technically late for the first day of May but as you know, it is a busy month for us. We celebrated 37 years of marriage on the 3rd. On the 6th of May I honored my late brother-in-law Gary who would have had a birthday but celebrated it in heaven again. The 8th was Uncle Louie's birthday. He was such a gem. A good BoJon man and a Colorado history bluff like no other I have ever known. He was my mom's only brother to survive into old age having lost their younger brother Tony at age 17 in the gold mine cave in in Victor, Colorado February 1927 when my mom was just 13 and Uncle Louie was 18. He had come up for a break and heard their cried for help. He talked about his dad and brother Tony often during his own lifetime. My mother shared many wonderful memories of her dad and brother.  My grandfather had been raised with three sisters so he was well versed in how to treat a lady. My mother loved to tell me how he would turn on the radio on Saturday evenings and the girls, her older sister Mary, herself (Cecilia), Ann and Elsie would dance with him as well as their baby sister Josie. I loved hearing that memory from my mom.

This image is a google image and may be subject to copyright . I respect their right to copyright and only share this image and not as my own.  Someone recently asked, was there another name your parents might have given you and why? I suppose I was the luckier one of the two of us but my sister Mary, five years older than me, told me mom almost named her Agnes for her baby sister who passed away and I was nearly named for Frances mom's other sister who also passed away as a young child. We were grateful we were named for her older sister (Mary) and her younger sister (Ann) . My father had an older sibling, Mary and a younger one, Ann too. We were double named for each of their siblings.  They are  buried in the old Roselawn cemeterey and I don't know if there are any records exisiting anymore but their baby sister Rose is buried near my aunt Ann Petgovsek in her phamily's plot at Rselawn. My father purchased the headstone for baby Rose. Oh the stories I can tell and retell here. I am so very proud of my heritage as a sLOVEnian also known as a  BoJon. Rose is also the first name of my Tata Rose who passed away May 12, 1985 just one month  and one week after my father.

Baby Rose was born 6 November 1918 - 13 November 1918. The multiple losses my loved ones endured is beyond my comprehension. My father had a brother who was born in 1906 (Joseph) and passed away in 1909. His younger sibling Frank was born on 3 July 1915 and passed away in 1918. He passed away during the Flu Pandemic. Two parents and four children all survived. Three more girls were born after that including auntie Steffie who was born on the eve of the 1921 Pueblo Flood.  Our youngest daughter Hannah is born in 3 July as well. A quick side note. If you are not buried in the Italian section of the Roselawn cemeterey in Pueblo or sit on the board, the  rest of the graves are not kept up and graves are robbed of their floral displays their loved ones leave there. I think it is quite sad that you have to be in a certain "class" to receive any respect for your deceased loved ones. Pueblo had had a long history of the same people running the show for decades. It is absolutely demeaning to the hard working citizens who still reside there. Why these people are not removed from the offices they hold is stunning to me.  I belong to a social group of Pueblo born and raised citizens  and many of them  think exactly the way I do.  How sad, but my dad would always tell me, do not trouble yourself with the affairs of others. God sees all and He is watching every single move all these people as well as yourself make.  My father attended school through the 4th grade yet he was and always will be, the most intelligent man I ever knew.  He was bright and his handwriting was impeccable. What he did not understand he researched. I adored my father and I know he adored me too.

Hannah is so crafty. She made this shadow box for Mother's Day for me. It represents the colors of our 1984 May 3 wedding. She also created this sign for me:

Words my mother said to me each and every time we spoke on the phone or in person. My mom had her own set of of "Momisms":

With a friend like her, you'll never need an enemy.

Always have your own car keys and cash. Don't let anyone think they can pay your way.

Who told you life was easy? They lied to you. Life is hard, pray harder. If it gets harder, pray harder more!

Love God and be kind.

Never speak ill of the dead!

Wait til your father gets home!

Beautiful words for my mother who spent her 19th Mother's Day in the presence of God Himself. My mom was a corker. She was a wonderful sLOVEnian lady. She loved dancing her entire life and she taught me to always have strong role models. One of her favorite role models was Babe Didrikson Zaharias, an incredible female athlete who passed away too young. My mother loved everything about Babe! My mom had a cousin was a county judge in Teller County Colorado (Victor, Colorado). The Honorable Margaret Tekavee. She had a friend who was a pediatrician, during a time, when the worth of women was still not completely noted. She shared so many wonderful stories about her friend the doctor with me. She also had a dear sweet friend Minka. She came from the old country Yugoslavia, now known as sLOVEnia.  Minka was married to George the Mailman's brother Emil and she owned a little bakery on Northern Avenue next to Johnny Smith's Barber Shop and Veteran's Tavern, a neighborhood bar owned by another BoJon phamily the Zupancic. minka baked the most beautiful and tasty cakes. Being a December baby, my mom knew I disliked all the red and green and holiday cakes so one year Minka baked me an Easter bonnet cake. It was so beautiful and when I close my eyes I can see that lovely pastel colored cake in my memories.  She passed away quite young from cancer and my mom lost another wonderful and kind friend. The memories of her will be forever inside my heart.

This is a google image Easter Bonnet cake. Minka's cake was white like wedding cake with that faint almond flavor and decorated in shades of pastel pink and lavender. I wish I had a photo of that beautiful cake. Many years later, when I worked for Mary Shomer in the Pueblo County Treasurer's office my co worker, Olga Butkovich, she married a swell BoJon fella.  She had Schuster's bakery on the Mesa Junction bake a beautiful two layer white cake with lemon filling and decorated with one of my favorite Springtime flowers, pansies. Those little yellow and purple pansies looked so realistic.  Oh the memories I have of birthday cakes from past years. I have a pinterest page called Phamily Cakes because we have so many wonderful cakes throughout the years.

I will end with some humor. I will send it over to Sandee's for Aw...Mondays. Have a wonderful week and a beautiful evening. May goodness and kindness follow you everywhere you go.

You know I am terribly ornery so I know this might offend those women's libbers. But my mom had her very own Prince Charming and I have mine. Love is...has followed my marriage since 1984 and the year before our marriage. I think Kim Casselli was a good luck charm too.
