Tuesday 4 All About Blogging!

I am new blogging with Tuesday 4 in memory of Toni Taddeo. This week the questions were supplied by Pamela Steiner.  Let's talk about blogging:

1. Tell us about your blog. When did you start blogging? My good friend Barb suggested I start blogging when our little poodle Tinkerbell became very ill in 2009. My first post was November 1, 2009. I wasn't very good at it but as time went by, I improved. I don't have a fancy schmancy blog or two. I made the decision a few years ago to blog aobut my heritage because I was encouraged by my great cousin Mike. Now Mike loved writing about where we grew up. The neighborhood and all those wonderful memories. So I devoted an entire month to blogging about our neighborhood and shared stories and photos. It kicked off more blog posts and although I don't have the know how, I scrape by because I am devoted to it. I included my faith and found some were turned off. All I can say about that is I know faith is important. I know God listens. I have seen Him turn a life around. So thank you very much, I will profess my faith as long as I am able.

2. What prompted you to blog?  Besides Tinkerbell and her liver disease, I felt I could make some on line friends, who were very much like me. I have really journaled with it too. I want to write down those memories, the stories, the words I have heard. My phamily is so important to me. My first blog is Phamily Blog. I spent many years in the small business market selling Princess House and I loved the abbreviation PH for everything. So I took Phamily Blog as my title. Unfortunately, there are several other variations of that name . Unless you can afford a patent or can purchase the name outright you deal with others having similar titles but entirely different blogs. More stories on one such blog I came across in my journey later. I love my "Phamily" so I love writing about them. One husband, five kids, 6 grand kids and 11 great grands. Lots of pets, many happy times, many sorrows. We have seen it all. I started my second blog, My Tata's Cottage because aside from the fact that my maternal grandmother Cecilia was my BFF I also adored her younger sister, my Tata Rose too. I loved her tiny cottage like home. When she passed away and all her children were gone as well, I had hoped and prayed someday I could buy that little home, move it away and create a little cottage space. So I still dream about it. But the love I have for my sweet grandmother, gone from my life since 1967 and my Tata since 1985 remains forever.

3. What was your first blog about and what was the subject/title?  I seem to talk too much most times . I sort of explained all of this in question #2.  I had hoped to create a place where people stopping by would be able to enjoy a few minutes of fun and humor, encouragement and prayer, A place where we could form friendships and enjoy the company of others like us. My blogs do not sync. I jumped ahead, missing a step when I created my second blog. So I often have difficulties linking my posts elsewhere. I am tech un- savvy so my photos and posts are not as polished as others. But I never want to have a blog filled with advertising (Goodness, I try to get away from it everywhere I go). I am never going to be rich making money here and I love my little life. I love the friendships. My blog is my personal journal times two.

This was a different kind of blog post today. I am going to do more like this. I appreciate each person who stops by and I love reading my comments. Since our kids are here until next week, I am sneaking a few hours of blogging as I can. Have a wonderful night. Sleep well, dream beautiful dreams and praying we are all here tomorrow for another day.

I learned this verse from my dad. He often said this to us. I say it everyday now. Only God holds the answer to our lives and how long we will remain on this earth.

Happy Tuesday

 Happy Tuesday

Oh Maxine, you were suppose to use sunscreen and wear a shirt to the park to begin with! That poor pup,. he looks dazed and confused.

Oh Maxine, you watch too much TV! HaHaHa! But I am guessing by the title of the show, your house must be great!

Denver is hosting the 2021  MLB All Star game . My husband is grateful and thankful he will be off all of next week.  The traffic downtown will be unbelievable. There is too much controversy so I won't let it spoil my love of the game of baseball regarding the move from Atlanta to Denver. The politics, ugh, take it away from me! Watching Brody play T Ball is a thrill for me. You can see some of the little ones are going to have real talent. Some are shy and quiet, others just came to have fun and baseball is fun. I won't let anyone ruin my thoughts on the game. My folks both played it, I played it, my two brothers played. It is truly American as apple pie.

Noelle brought this apple pie to the bbq. Slice by slice it will disappear.

Missing Harrison and Shea this weekend. But they went boating with their grammies. Harrison is quite a crackup. His grammie Lisa said he told her , if I watch that movie I will fall asleep straightaway! Is he British and no one told us? That child is hilarious. I see some comedy in his future. This photo was Harrison in April 2016. He was so small and I loved watching him sleep. I cared for him two days a week back than and I love that he still likes to come over, climb on the bed with me and watch cartoons. I heard his sister Shea was steering that boat. She has the "Captain" personality.

The Mean Mugger will make this face on command from her parents. If you ask her nicely, she might make this face for you too.

Time for dreamland. Hoping you are all getting your well deserved rest. I am looking forward to seeing you soon. God Willing.

Happy Fourth of July 2021

God is Good. He let us see some amazing fireworks right in our own yard. It was a good day, a wonderful evening. A good life. Thankful and Grateful for all I have. Many memories flood my mind on 4th July 2021. My father always had a huge bucket of cold water standing by with the hose ready for any emergency. One year, the neighbors directly across the stree from us, must have purchased over $100 worth of fireworks and those kids were so excited, someone dropped a match into the paper sack. Man oh man, that was the best fireworks show I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Rebekah had cut down that H U G E bush in the backyard. Zack set up the windmill in it's place. We still have more work to do, repairing the little fence around it and pruning the trees. But all in all, the yard looks good. Please visit Aw...Mondays In our personal lives, we have many Aw....moments and Mondays too!

I could not have said it better myself. Love is...rocks!

Zach photo bombed us and SnapChat stuck the heart directly on his face. It is was too cute not to share it.

A favorite verse for reflection on this day and what it means to me.

I am so grateful Rebekah spoke with Sharon on the phone last summer going over the particulars for her recipe for this Trifle. Rebekah added the blieberries to create the flag with 50 blueberries. She really worked hard to make this perfect. In memory of Sharon Ann Hayes, one of the best cooks I ever met. I will share my photos of more dishes including Zach's fabulous cooked all day to melt in your mouth ribs. What a blessing I have in this bunch of people I love and cherish.

Click on this photo to see the whole bunch of us. I love La Familia 2021 July 4th.

Love is...know best, I had to show it off twice!

Sleepy Time Tea for me to lull me to sleep since people can not stop their explosions of fireworks all over. Osha Honey with Sleepy Time Tea for my honey who is trying hard to get some rest. Sweet Dreams, Goodnight, Rest Well all.

Independence Day 2021

Stay safe and enjoy the holiday weekend never forgetting the price that was paid for you and I to remain free.

A huge birthday surprise and Hannah's cake. The bakery did an exceptional job decorating and it was good to eat. More birthday photos will follow soon.

Snoopy is a smart canine.

See you soon after you have those sweet dreams and a most restful sleep. I hope and pray we return tomorrow to share friendship here.

On July 1, Blogger will no longer support the "Follow by eMail" (ie Feedburner) format.

Sunflowers

Did you know that the French word for Sunflower is tournesol? This word means turn toward the sun. Several years ago I was in a flower/vegetable seed exchange. My partner sent me sunflower seeds and told me the sweetest story. When she was a child she said her father told her that sunflowers always look toward the sun and she needed to keep her eyes upward to the Son of Man. I have never had luck with sunflowers and have tried planting them many times. I know they are the state flower of my neighbors to the East in Kansas. I love the story of the sunflower and I also love this Scripture:

" Then Jesus spoke to them again saying , "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in the darkness , but will have the light of life." John 8:12

I carry this thought with me wherever I go today. I know God will not allow the world to continue for much longer. I feel He will send Jesus and begin a new heaven on earth.

A phamily dinner, minus Nick, when we were all together during the Mother's Day weekend. Counting down the hours til Hannah's birthday officially arrives, at 1 A.M. July 3.

When Hannah and Jake were married in 2019, we were estatic. Hannah was usually quiet, sometime reserved and she was so happy when she and Jake became serious. It was a dream come true. They were perfect for each other. They lvoe the same things and enjoy traveling together. We are grateful to have Jake in our phamily and we love our Hannah girl dearly too.

These two are so perfect together.

We had a wonderful brunch on Mother's Day at Jeremy & Brittany's new home. Sisters with their mother.

Sisters and if you look closely at the 2 photos Noelle and I have excellent taste, we were wearing the same dress on Mother's Day.

Nick and Hannah at his field day a long time ago. Check out those hiking boots Nick was wearing. What memories.

We were saying goodbye during their last visit.
Hannah's second grade First Communion and Rebekah in the prayer garden at their parochial school.

One more phamily share, all of us a long time ago.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HANNAH! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! WISHING HANNAH MANY MORE WONDERFUL BIRTHDAYS!

JULY IS HERE

Oh that waterfall looks refreshing on a hot summer's day. Leave it up to Snoopy to find a way to tell June goodbye.

Chillin at the beach. What a life Snoopy has ushering in July with his sun shades a cool chair and an umbrella. Nothing like that salt air to relax a canine.

So this handsome fella and his sister and dad had lunch at the Olive Garden with me today. Plus we told PaPa Roger to come join the fun. So we all had a great time with yummy food and lots of laughter.

Poor baby girl, getting those molars. She was gnawing on those bread sticks like a baby beaver. Such a sweetheart. When the waiter brought her ice cold milk, she smiled and sighed...

A new month in the making and counting down the days until Hannah and Jake come home. She will celebrate her birthday here and we are tickled. These two travelers will hitch their wagon and be here for a weekend celebration next Saturday. Avery is getting the week off so we should have some good visiting.

So another trip around the sun for Hannah is in store. Two days and counting.

Hannah is having a "wake" style birthday bash. She has worked hard on her decorations and her sister Rebekah and has been buying party goodies too. We have a few birthday surprise gifts for her and a high school friend is making her cake.

My baby girl and me during our Mother's Day weekend.

This girtl has a special bond with her dad. He was the "Doctor Dad" that delivered her. What a night that was. We never made it to our hospital and no one at the closer facility that cared for us afterwards would sign her birth certificate. Our doctor Colleen Conry signed it a few weeks later. She was our largest baby baby weighing in at 8 pounds even  and today, she is our smallest, skinny mini.  Her daddy called her Hannah Who, from the antimated movie, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (Cindy Lou Who).

Enjoying my time with good memories and looking forward to making more with our girl Hannah and her hubby Jake.

Time for some baseball before bedtime. Rockies are at home and after a rain delay are finally playing the St. Louis Cardinals. Sleep well, rest up and enjoy a wonderful Independence Day weekend.

A time to celebrate the USA and remember all the sacrifices to keep us free.
