I think life around here has been moving at the speed of light! I last told you Avery saw his Pulmonologist! Well things with his asthma went from bad to worse! He had a dose of steroids which did nothing, he had a dose of anti-biotics which also did nothing . On the eve before Thanksgiving he said I want to go to the emergency room. So Rebekah and Zach had been preparing for this. If anything, my sweetheart is stubborn! He never wants to inconvenience anyone! The very opposite of me. I say this because, when you are hurting. When you can not breathe, inconvenience whoever is near to you!
We headed to our hospital ER and upon arrival one older lady and a younger woman were waiting. They triaged Avery and the next thing we knew, five medical professionals pounced on him! Rebekah and I were scared but we tried to keep our happy smiling faces on for Avery. They all wore masks but when they ran some tests and a chest x ray they knew he had bacterial pneumonia and off those masks came. Bacterial pneumonia is not contagious!!!!! He was admitted and it took all my strength not to lose control and have to leave him there. I knew he was in good hands but it was hard going home. A young doctor took care of him and 2 Respiratory Therapists were so kind and knowledgeable.
He spent three nights in the hospital. Before he was released Saturday late in the afternoon Zach and Rebekah took me to At Home to look at CHRISTmas decor! We had fun and we left there and joined Avery at the hospital. The doctor had to sign off on at home oxygen until his lungs are clear, so it was not very long that we were zipping down the road to Home Sweet Home.
I thought of my late dear friend Mike B. He was an engineer on the railroad and our hometown was so proud of him. He passed away shortly after his retirement but we had many great conversations and he would always end those talks with this, "How can you live so far away from your hometown? There is nothing like Home Sweet Home!" After he passed away I became friends with his only daughter Ashlee. The girl is her daddy all over again. But she married and her new husband took her to Florida where he practices law with his own father.
Today we will see how Avery does with his portable oxygen at work. He does sit down a lot as his work has to be precise as he and Geraldine prepare documents for court. One error and out that lawsuit goes! He has always been a mover but as we grow older he is learning to slow down a bit. Prayers have been so helpful and you may pray if you choose. God blessed me with a wonderful husband and he took such tender are of me when I had my surgery last Spring. So now it is my turn and like my own mother before me, it is my privilege and honor to help this sweetheart of mine heal.
Celebrated my birthday yesterday and if you were at my other blog Anne's Phamily Blog and saw me with my sweet Snoopy and soft blanket throw from Rebekah and Zach.
Last night Noelle hosted a spaghetti with meat sauce dinner for me. Being with all of Colton's sweet phamily, Jacey, Harrison James and Shea Avery Marie was a blessing. Noelle and her beau Scott were wishing me well and Noelle cooked a great meal with cheesy garlic bread and a wonderful salad. She had Dairy Queen make me a butterfly birthday cake.
I can't get my butterfly cake to post but please trust me. It was so beautiful.

I'm so thankful he agreed to go to the ER and I pray he recuperates fully soon - and gets rid of that O2!
Glad your family was around to take good care of both of you.
Home sweet home is right - it's the best.
Glad you had a nice birthday!
Thank you precious Mari. I appreciate you and your kind heart.
So relieved to know that Avery is okay, Anne. That had to be so scary for all of you! Pneumonia is nothing to take lightly, and I'm glad that he was given portable oxygen to take with him when he went home. Danny had similar issues earlier this year, so I'm too well acquainted with that situation. On a lighter note, it sounds like you had a terrific birthday! Blessings!
Thanks so much precious friend. It is good to know that some places still care for people and give care. We love our Good Samaritan hospital. My birthday was wonderful. Thank you and take care dear heart.
I am glad Avery went in also. Great catch. You have to be so careful with pneumonia. He needs to go back to work slowly!
Thank you. Two of our girls, Noelle and Rebekah had regular pneumonia when they were small . Praying Avery will be good after his long day. Thank you precious lady.
I'm sure glad Avery is okay, that had to be most scary for all of you. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
Oh my, what a scare! I was reading part of this aloud to Tom while at the restaurant; he, too, didn't realize there was a difference in (types of) pneumonia. Having a medical team who reflect kindness and compassion makes all the difference in the world -- both to the patient and family.
Thank you ! You all bring smiles to me every time I see you .
It sure was! He went to work today ! Just tired tonight . If the cough would go away he’d be better . Thank you . The hospital has been good to us. It’s where Nick was back in 2022! Noelle was there this summer and our neighbor Lisa across the street works in transport .
Prayers for both of you and your family. Bob always refused ER visits and if he agrees I know it is SERIOUS.
Wow, that was a scary time for you. Glad the doctors knew how to help him...and now that he's home again, let's hope he can stay out of the hospital, God willing. Happy Belated Birthday Greetings to you!
Hello Anne Marie. Happy (late) birthday. It's nice you are back! I hope your new year of life is awesome, with good health, fun times with your family, blessings for you and your "forever love", peace, grace, and laughter. Thanks for your visit to Writing Straight from the Heart and for your comment, too. Stop by any time as I'm always delighted to see you have visited.
Men just don’t want help ! I agree with you , something serious if they agree to go. Thank you for praying . Always praying for you and Bob too!
Thank you ! Yes we’ve had quite the ride with hospital in 2024 and 2025. We need a breaking. Thanks for birthday greeting too!
Thank you Susan . You’re always sweetheart ! Have a lovely weekend .
That sounds so scary.
Glad Avery is back home and on the mend.
