Hey, it's time for Tuesday 4 and I am so happy to see you back again. This is Tuesday4 in memory of Toni Taddeo and hosted by Annie
Let's ask ourselves some questions.
1. What was the worst date you ever went on?
It is a toss up between Bill, he was a friend of a friend and Pat also a friend of a friend. Bill was in love with himself hahaha. He was well educated (eye roll) and went to Columbia where he studied Journalism. He worked for a major department store in the marketing department. He took me on a date, there's a loose term! It was dutch treat! He tried to eat off my plate and I told him, touch my plate and I will stab you with this fork. You see my mother raised me, well, not to stab people, but to always have my own car keys and always have my own money. I was too independent for him and that was the end of that. Pat started off nicely, he was a groomsman in my girlfriends wedding because he worked with the groom and was a friend. I was her maid of honor and a single mom at the time. Pat came to Colorado to visit us and my dad thought he was a strange guy. He wore a red and white striped nightshirt and dad got a kick out of that! So when my little girl was older we went to California. He took us to Knotts Berry Farm and Catalina Island. But when he went to work, he locked us in his house! I called my gf Barb and she came over and rescued us through a bedroom window we were able to open. Thinking of what could have happened in a true emergency sacred me to pieces so we packed up and went home. I think he had good intentions that went astray. I felt very bad for him. I think he was getting older and afraid he'd never find someone. I sure hope he did.
2. How was the nicest date you ever had?
My husband of course. He would go dancing with me and we always had wonderful conservations and he loved my little girl. He treated us both so wonderfully and we both grew to love him very much. He is someone who can finish my sentence today, makes me laugh hysterically and always knows how to soothe my achy bones and is a good solid man, very much like his late father and someone my own father loved dearly. Yesterday, for instance, I had jury duty. I wanted to go like I wanted to jump off a building into ten feet of icy snow! So he drove me there and he prayed along with many other wonderful friends and phamily who prayed I would be released. Joy of joy! God was good to me and I was the last person they released. My sweetheart picked me up, took me to lunch and we spent the afternoon watching old western's and laughing and having a good afternoon together. He is very kind and logical and he always knows what I Need. He is my best friend and the love of my life.
3. Where did you grow up and how did you like it? Are you far away from there now?
Both my husband Avery and I are Pueblo natives, it is 120 miles South of the Denver metro area. I had a magical childhood. I was just chatting with my sister Mary about it. We were so blessed that God gave us the most remarkable parents and we lived in the very best neighborhood where everyone knew you and everyone looked out for each other. Last year my friend was preparing to sell her aunt's home on the block where I grew up. She knew I was sad about the condition of my childhood home. Things like tearing out the beautiful chain link fence and replacing it with some ratty old wood pickets! so she snapped these photos and wrote these wonderful words to make me smile:
Lynette wrote these words and they made me smile. " I think of all of those people when I drive to my aunt's house. How we picked Frank's ( "F") flowers, how Leonard, (Squanto) his son, drove the big white Cadillac and would honk at us to get out of his way. How we picked flowers at Joe Masser's yard to play Miss America. Penny candy from the pool hall, and ice cream for Gorsich's . How we harassed Joey Lepik when we threw down his neatly stacked cans (always when "Fritz" the owner was away).Cardboard boxes to ride down the alley near the dump. Cookies for the mailman George and and craft's at Edison School. I found a key chain I made there while cleaning my aunt's house. Oh the memories". Many of the sLOVEnian men had nicknames so the ones we remember, are in paraenthesis. Magical and ideal......a dream come true for little girls with big dreams.
4. What did kids do for fun and dates when you were young?
We rode our bikes like maniacs down the steep hill to the gulley or dump as Lynette called it. We threw rocks from her grandparents yard on the roof of the chicken coop where this old gentleman lived. He would yell at us in Spanish when he caught us! We walked across the bridge over I-25 to Bollinger's for magazines and candy. Mr. Bollinger was a tall slender man with dark hair and all his sisters worked for him. They were all platinum blondes. We played baseball behind the school and walked to the railroad tracks to see if any Hobo's were hopping the train. We had a neighborhood full of kids our age so we had fun. My sister Mary is five years older than me. She went on lots of dates where boys came over and they sat on the sofa and visited. I would crawl behind them and she always wanted to wring my neck! They would go to the A&W for a root beer float and when they were older to Jerry's Lounge for pizza and dancing and beer. We dragged Main Street downtown and on the Pueblo page I belong to at social media, people still talk about it today.. Good clean fun, happier times with many memories.
Happy Tuesday I thought my Tuesday 4 post was a happy time remembered so I am sharing it here.
A Pinterest find, a tea tyme cake with raspberries and teaches. I love the dessert late, tea cup and tea pot. So precious. I am always enjoying tea. We had the best carrot cake with our dinner that we shared as it was huge on Saturday. I have thought about making a small one to share with my phamily. With the cold weather I have been using the oven and it mis my happy place. Today I made two South West Quiches. My sister-in-law Lucy worked at the tea room inside the Thatcher Museum in Pueblo and she shared the recipe for SW Quiche with me. It is a favorite here.
SW Quiche with fresh fruit. a good breakfast/brunch . Thanks Lucy!
I dedicate Maxine today to the employees at the Jury Commission in the county where I live.
