Soup and a Sandwich?

You are very welcome here at Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we ask you 4 questions each week in hopes of encouraging blogging and learning more about other bloggers through their answers.

Once again  if you have ideas for topics leave them in comments here or on my blog.

Campbells has their beautiful factory  in Camden, New Jersey.

1. What is your favorite sandwich? What kind of bread, roll.. toasted or not? Butter: salted or sweet? As I am writing, I am eating my late lunch. I comes from having a late breakfast. I am having a toasted Italian slice of bread with mayo and a slice of Bologna, you know Oscar Mayer! I also have a slice of American and a slice of Provolone cheese with extra mayo.  My husband is the bologna king cause he loves the stuff and we both grew up with it. So it was quick to fix. It is very good with lettuce and sliced tomatoes too.

2. Do you have a favorite soup?  Tomato, Tomato Basil and Mushroom Soup. Do you make homemade soup often?  Love to make homemade soup. Especially Mushroom. What kind?   Homemade Mushroom Soup. What's your favorite store bought soup? I will get Campbell's Tomato or Tomato Basil.

3. What kind of cheese should be on a grilled cheese sandwich and should it be served with tomato soup or some other flavor ? Whatever you enjoy, I prefer cheddar, American and Provolone.

4. Is it a Hoagie, a Sub, a Zeppelin, a Grinder, or a Hero or maybe a Dagwood?   What's on it? Oil.. vinegar, onions, peppers, mayo? A Hoagie or a Sub. We buy bakery rolls so sometime they call them Hoagie Rolls. All the traditional stuff, including Boar's Head Beef Bologna. We get Ham and Turkey and Roast Beef. We like a variety of cheeses and always have mayo, mustard and pickles with tomato slices and lettuce. Y U M !

Thanks for dropping by!

HAPPY TUESDAY

We had a cold snow come through Sunday night, it rained hard and the temps dropped. Monday morning there was snow and it was icy. So these three cuties made me smile. They were ready with their knit caps. All they need to be happy walking in the white stuff is a pair of cute boots. HAPPINESS!

The sun is shining brightly and although it is only 45 degrees we know most of this snow will melt away.  C'mon Spring.....

My memory is very much like Maxine's somedays. I can remember stuff from my childhood, but what did we have for dinner last night....? Hmmmm.... oh yes, Tostadas and they were delicious.  I also made a batch of Belgian Waffles this morning. when my poor husband said he had a lone banana for breakfast, well, I jumped up and made a fresh batch so he can have a treat the next couple days.

My twin in Pink shoes which I need to snap. She wanted a photo by my lavender curtains The girl is a diva.

She popped by to say hi! But she had to go eat her snack her daddy bought her. This girl.....

I still did not get a pic of her pink shoes. I have the same ones. We are twins  I bought her a Pink Paw Patrol Skye Toothbrush. She has to wash her  face, brush her teeth and brush her hair when she comes here.

Planning

Seeing ahead
Welcome back friends!

A wise man once said that most people fall into their lives.   They don't plan and carry out what they would like to do, they just fall into things through circumstances.      Others plan and prepare for life.  They know the kind of person they want to spend their life with, the kind of family, home  or job they wish to have and make a concerted effort to follow through.

So what about you?

1. Did you plan to be where you are right now in life or did you just end up where you are?

Yes and no. We had a plan but plans often fail or are upset with illness, job loss, and other life incidents.

2. What plans did you make for your future and what plans do you have for the future now or are you just marking time?

We had a plan but things change and you often do what you have to do. We have had many years of illness, job loss, more job loss, many sadness's so we are hobbling through this stage of life. But we have great faith and it has seen us through everything unpleasant and we hope it will continue.

3.  Do you live where you want to live or would you have done things differently when planning where to live?

We live in a relatively quiet area considering the times we live in. But would have loved to have built our own home . Something are not meant to be so I live by this Scripture:

In my Father's house there are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2 NASB  Faith has been our stronger bond, link, and  it has not failed us and we pray we continue on this road.

4.  What is planned for this coming Autumn?

We would like to take a trip or two, somewhere to see the Fall foliage . We hope to go on the train in Georgetown as it is a great way to see all the beauty.  we love watching sports so we have that.

But we have Hannah and Jake's baby shower next month so much planning still to do. Between Rebekah trying new tea sandwiches and her husband Zach makes different cup cakes and other tea shower goodies, we need an exercise bike. We usually have holidays at home. So that will probably remain the same. But with our new grandson due at the end of December in upstate NY hahaha I may fly out there and come back in the Spring thaw! as for reading as the weather cools off I will be able to settle in to some good reading. I like light reading so I don't usually read true crime  stories or  Stephen King type of books. I do like a good biography too. I do not read much drama as the world is already full of it.

  • trips or plans with family or friends?
  • vacations?
  • holiday plans?\
  • Reading list?

Thank you for joining in to make Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 a success.

Happy Tuesday

Prayers for our grandson Colton and Jacey and the kids. Their dogs got out of the yard and Atlas, the Great Dane puppy was hit and passed away. Colton was headed home from work when the gentleman that hit him called him. They waited for the police for 30 minutes and the man was visible upset but was on his way to work  People often wonder why we don't like the wild rabbits here. It is because they dig up our fences whether chain link or privacy and Atlas and probably Chester the yellow lab knock a board out and escaped. Chester and Jordy the smaller dog ran to their house when they saw the accident and were very sad too. It is so hard to lose a pet. Atlas was a real sweetheart.

Rainy Days and Mondays

Welcome to  Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 where we ask just 4 questions each week to get you blogging and thinking and meeting other bloggers!

Rainy Days and Mondays was a song about being down but, not everyone is down on a Monday or a rainy day.

1. Do Mondays get you down or did they ever? How about a rainy day? What makes it better?
I don't have a problem with Monday's but when I had to work I did not like to see SONday coming because I knew I had to go to work the next day. Grateful not to have to deal with that any longer. We have rain tonight. The lightening and thunder is wild. But the rain is always needed.

2. How do you like to spend rainy days?
It depends on the temperature. I still will walk in the rain if it is not storming. Some people act as if they are going to melt away. I enjoy the rain. If it's cold I like to curl up with a good book.  We have had many rainy days this Spring and Summer. So the only down side is trying to get outdoor things done. Our backyard is a disaster. We have a section not sodded or for cement or anything. The weeds are wicked and wild.

3.Do you like to take a walk in the rain?
Yes I do if the lightening and thunder are not wild. I like the fresh air the rain often brings. I am not sure I could live somewhere that gets the constant rain showers but I am never sad when it rains here. We always need extra moisture.

4.What is your weather like this summer so far? What would make it better or worse?  What is your ideal summer weather?
This summer has been weird. So hot and when the rain showers come, which most times have been short and sweet the humidity kicks up and I do not like humidity. But we had a rainy Spring so that spoiled me somewhat.  I like temps in the 60-70 degree range. But that would be in a perfect world.

....a land of sheltered homes and warm firesides  - firesides that were waiting - waiting for the bubbling kettle and the fragrant breathe of tea -- Agnes Repplier , To Think of Tea!

I miss the blogs that use to host tea cup exchanges and giveaways. I use to love doing the giveaways myself as well. I received a few lovely tea for one sets and so many beautiful tea cups and saucers. With lots of fun extra tea time goodies. Happy times.

I remember hosting a postcard giveaway too. I received over 200 postcards from all over the USA and many other countries.Intense Guy won the giveaway which consisted of several Colorado themed items.  I tried to do a second postcard giveaway but 2020 spoiled it. I did admire the sprinkle of true sweethearts who did send a postcard. Their generous hearts really made me smile. A happy time and place.

Remembering good memories from other bloggings long ago. So many still here and so many no longer blogging for many reasons I suppose. Happy memories.

He liked those orange traffic cones.  Apparently, Maxine does not! hahaha

Tuesday4 Happy Tuesday Maxine Cracks Me Up

What Things.....

 It's time for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Questions about your life........

1. What makes you tired?

Hard work! We worked in the yard after the rain left. It makes me want to take a nap. Also grandchildren. We watched our three year old grandson Saturday night. You need a nap after he leaves. He likes to play mailman and he can not reach the mail slot on the front porch. Up & down we go and he is getting heavy. But would not want it any other way. Oh yes, our adjustable bed. I need a twenty minute rest after making the beast! It is a split king so lots of things to do. But I don't mind it at all. Keeps me busy.

2.What things do you value in life?

Faith, Phamily, Friends are most important to me. I do love my Barbie's and always want to add to my collection.  Grateful for health and all the simple things we often take for granted. I try to take that to heart everyday I wake up and know I am still here.

3. How do you want others to see you?

I like to be thought of  as kind. I will extend a kind hand to you in need. I like to pray and spend lots of my time with the Lord each day.Our world is getting crazier each day Praying helps calm the soul.  I am here to lend an ear. I like to be thoughtful and kind but I also love laughter and being silly at times.

4.  What things do you enjoy most and find most relaxing to do?

Reading...especially my bible and studying Scripture. But I also love to read and have stacks of books to catch up with.  I spent last Thursday in my pj's reading a new book that was recommended to me. The Secret Book of Flora Lea. I am not sure it is relaxing but we love our Denver Nuggets and enjoy watching them in the playoffs. A few weeks ago we watched our two grandsons ages 5 and 3 1/2. Brody was excited to watch the game and he was yelling, at the TV  be quiet, I want to watch the game! I said to Avery, is he acting like me? My poor husband says, what do you think? I often yell things like, yeah, we know you played back when they invented the basketball, zip it up and let us watch the game!  In the words of the comedian Ron White, I had the right to remain silent but my mouth did not have the ability! Which is probably why my older brother Bill would tell me, you better zip it up lady when you go to your kids sporting events! He coached little league, basketball, football, all of it in his younger days. It is funny though, when Nick ran track and field and cross country in Middle school , high school and college, people act differently. We cheer and support our kids but there isn't any meanness.

Happy Tuesday

Oh Maxine, you think of everything don't you?

Tuesday4 and Happy Tuesday with Maxine Cracking Me Up

It's time once again for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Since Saint Patrick's Day is March 17 it might be nice to talk about it.

1. Do you celebrate the day and is it more secular or religious for you? I was raised Catholic, I know all the background info on the various saints such as Patrick and my husband is Irish on his dad's side with ancestry back to a Nicholas Robinson in the 1700's. We just enjoy wearing green and enjoying the traditional food we have cooked for years, corn beef and cabbage and Shepherd's Pie.

We took this photo in 2018 with all our crazy green gear!

2. Americans eat corned beef and cabbage but it's not traditional in Ireland at all.   In my  house its Colcannon and Beef Stew or Cottage pie (shepherds pie made with beef instead of lamb).. which is more realistic and far less salty.  Do you make special meals for holidays?  What will you make for St. Patrick's Day?

We do make corn beef and cabbage and Shepherd's Pie. Rebekah, our middle is making corn beef and cabbage two different ways so we are waiting to see what she will do. She also plans to makes Irish soda bread although Sprouts grocery store carries a great variety. One year when my husband's oldest brother was still here (May he always Rest in Peace since 2015). his ex wife made corn beef and cabbage three ways, in a pressure cooker, an oven and a crock pot. To be honest, each one was delicious and tender and we had a small helping of each one. It is a nice memory of happier days for Michael before his ex dumped him.

3.  Do you have much green in your wardrobe? Does the color look good on you?

I do love green, and my late mom loved it too. In fact the last car my late dad bought for her was a beautiful sage green. I have a Teenage Ninja Turtle t shirt in emerald green. a sage green Ariel dress from LuLaRoe and some other tops in green. I have blue eyes so it is a good color choice.

4. In school we put up giant green shamrocks and Leprechauns. We made green paper chains to decorate our classrooms.  What do you do to decorate?

I use lots of Dollar Tree decorations because they are so reasonable.

This is a thrift store find and it was on our brown front door until our daughter Hannah, visiting from back east , painted it green for us last summer. We've had such a hard winter this year that many of decorations are still in the shed. Including my cute wreath.

Happy Tuesday

I thought talking about St. Patrick's Day would be a happy thought today.

I love all these sayings you can find for this holiday. Happy thoughts are the very best.

You know happiness should always prevail yet here is Maxine and she is being terribly ornery today:

Maxine is extra ornery today and all I can say is, oh that poor pup!

Tuesday4 and Happy Tuesday

Welcome to Tuesday4 I am happy to be here again. Now for some

Time

Time flies and weeks just seem to fall by the way side faster and faster.    We all have time on our hands at some point and we all find that time gets away from us at other times.  It takes a lot of work to manage your time because it seems to be at odds with freedom and creativity in some ways.

Perhaps we might talk about time and how we use it.

1.  Early to bed, early to rise?  Do you have usual times to go to bed and get up in the morning? How do they work out for you? I usually go to bed by ten o'clock since I am not employed any longer. I am usually up by 7 unless I can not sleep than somedays I get up at 5 with my husband who is getting ready for his day at work.  Some nights it is hard to get rest. It depends on the business of the day too.

2. Ecclesiastes  says "To everything there is a season  and a time to every purpose under heaven."

How much time is devoted to work, housework, hobbies? What about religious pursuits like study, prayer, services? In other words,  how is your time apportioned?  It depends on my sleep. This weekend for instance, I overdid everything so of course today I did not do anything much ,  Tomorrow I will get a few loads of laundry done and hauling the recycle and trash cans back into their place once the city empties them. I do listen to the bible and I also read early in the morning. I take a break for tea and try to find something nutrition for breakfast. Some mornings I like to make pancakes or waffles from scratch.  I like to read and have a stack books always ready to read as well as a few magazines I still get like Victoria and my favorite Tea Time.  Once and while I will watch grandkids or go out to breakfast or lunch with my grandson Colton and his phamily.

3. Do you think you manage your time well or would you like to improve? How would you improve? I try to manage my time well, lots of things always seem to come up. I don't have a set schedule but like to keep things up so I don't get behind or overwhelmed with too much to do.

4. Do you think time travel is possible? Why or why not? I wish it were but I don't believe so.

How does Maxine come up with this stuff? She is hilarious.

Happy Tuesday

Have a happy Tuesday and wonderful week.

Tuesday Time

I am always falling behind. I think this snow, so much of it, has frozen my poor brain! I am stuck in a dark and gloomy day and just very grateful and happy to have a roof over my head, hot tea in my cup and heat running through our home.

Happy Tuesday

My beautiful boy Boots. He has been gone a long time and yet I think happy thoughts about him everyday. He was a one-of-a-kind incredible feline. I often wonder if he was sent to me as an angel in disguise. He sat with me through many sadness's. I will miss him forever.

Tuesday4

A Few of My Favorite Things

Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 and if it's your first time its great that you are here and helping make it fun for everyone.

1. Do you have a favorite family recipe? Would you share it? I do have many, here is a favorite brunch time recipe, my famous Belgian Waffles:

2. Do you have a favorite book? How about a movie? TV program?

The Good Earth by Pearl S Buck and To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee are my two favorite books although lately I have been reading books by Marie Benedict. A movie, Peter and Paul, it is an old movie but one of our very favorites.  Anthony Hopkins portrayed Paul and did an excellent job of it.  We are all into the old Westerns on TV. Good clean movies.

3. What is your favorite snack? Favorite sandwich?

I love Wee Brie with the little toast crackers. They are shaped like pieces of mini toast and that is always a good snack with some fresh fruit.  Sandwich: Turkey with avocado and lettuce and tomato on 9 grain bread.

4. What is your favorite color for  a home exterior...a car...a room ?

Right now we have a green trim on our brick house. I love blue or green for cars and we have neutral paint in the bedrooms and throughout the house.  When I was a young teen my dad painted my bedroom lavender and I had curtains and bedspread to match.

This was fun today and I will be visiting and catching up with everyone participating. Thank you Annie for always doing this.

Maxine on a day like today, yep, I agree with you 100 percent!

I wish this were mine. sigh....love tea tyme. I am sipping Earl Grey Decaf because if I drank the caffeinated Earl I would be bouncing off the walls. It is a cold and dreary day so tea with a spoonful of honey is a necessity for me. Sometime in the mid day I will drink Earl Grey Lavender with foam, a London Fog kinda tea with honey. I use whatever milk we have on hand to get that foamy goodness.

See my  Wordless Wednesday

Tuesday4 and Happy Tuesday

Welcome to Tuesday4 still going strong in memory of Toni Taddeo. I was not blessed to know her, but so many of you were.

Do you love it or will you leave it?

1. Coffee flavored or  coffee plain? What is your favorite kind?

Flavored, a smidge of real sugar and half and half or table cream.

2. A trip to the Caribbean or a trip to Spain? Why?

I would say Spain as my big sis Pat (RIP) loved the country but that was neon's ago! Her husband was in the U S Army. She said the people were wonderful and kind.

3. Goodies on your pizza or just plain?  What toppings would you love or leave? I love veggies the best but I will eat the meat lovers with my sweetheart too. So many people dislike pineapple but again, I am all in! No anchovies for me, only in true Green Goddess Dressing.

4.   Dinner at a 5 star or dinner at  Rosie's Diner known for home style cooking?  Definitely at Rosie's Diner. I have had both but will always treasure homestyle cooking like my mom made.

Happy Tuesday

Tomorrow is the 21st anniversary of my mom's passing and my beautiful  maternal grandmother's birthday in Heaven since 1967! You know, for me, it never gets easier. They are the women who raised me to be strong and I miss them so much. Anything good I know I learned from them. So I watched our two little grandboys this morning. watching them leave to have lunch with their Papa made me sad as they kept me busy and kept my mind on them.

Our lil one things he is grandpa. He loves being on his side of the bed and raising the bed as high as he can go! That "Blue Bunny", he told me, "He isn't a baby bunny grandma, he is a daddy bunny!

Big brother helped me grate fresh cheese for a snack. He said he planned to eat the entire 2 lb. chunk! hahaha...I told him only if you want a tummy ache and trouble using the bathroom because too much cheese will settle in your tummy like a block of cement! Their smiles are so sweet. They are happily awaiting their mom to come home. She was on a mini trip with her mom to Nashville. Of course, Nashville had beautiful weather until they arrived and then she said it was cold too.

On my front porch and look at that SONshine! It is melting all the snow.

A cute kitten or pup  present. Make sure you buy live pets for little ones with the intend of keeping them. Pets are like marriage vows, in sickness and in health until death do we part. Nothing is more disturbing to me then people dumping animals in shelters because little Timmy was tired of it.  I have often thought, what would little Timmy do if his parents tired of him too? Think before you buy especially during the holiday season.

Oh Maxine........

Tuesday4 and Happy Tuesday

 Autumn This and That

It's time again for Tuesday4 in memory of Toni Taddeo. it's founder and previous host. Thank you so much for joining in and keeping this alive. It is much appreciated.

It's Autumn and temperatures in many places  will be going down, days will be shorter and leaves will be falling down.

Let's discuss these things.

1. Do lower temperatures bother you or make you uncomfortable and are you more of a warm climate person?

Oh these achy bones ache in the cold and if it is too hot my rosacea acts up. I would love to live in an ideal temperature for me, 55 to 70 degrees. But alas, I am a native Colorado girl so I deal with extreme heat and extreme cold. I am not sold on all the climate change or whatever sticker they stick on it today.  If Colorado wasn't doling out it's water to neighboring states we would not experience droughts. We get plenty of snow in the winter yet every year there are water restrictions. I can only speak for where I live and have lived my entire life. I like my weather medium cool. How is that for a simple answer? Maybe this will help:

My hat is off to the state troopers. Seeing them on the highway this past weekend makes me pray harder for their safety. We think the accident we saw on an overpass going home was probably a fatal one and my heart goes to the men and women who deal with these type of tragic accidents.

2. Do you like the colors of Autumn  clothing wise do they look good on you?

I apologize for going off topic in question 1. I love Autumn colors and often like to wears browns, some goldens and burgundy and rust. I like to layer in the cooler months too so it is a good season for my wardrobe.

3. Would you rather...

get lost in a corn maze or go on a hayride?

visit an apple orchard or a pumpkin patch?

eat a caramel apple or a candy apple?

      cinnamon buns or pumpkin muffins?

Go on a hayride always! Visit an apple orchard. we stop by the YaYa Orchard where you can pick apples and enjoy walking their grounds. It is a fun place to visit on the way to Estes Park. I use to love both a candy or caramel apple. I will occasionally eat a few caramels in the Autumn. I am a blueberry loving muffin gal. I do bake more in the cooler months so I think I will make a batch of cinnamon rolls. Thanks for the idea!

4. There are 7,500 varieties of apples. What is your favorite and do you like apple pie?

I love a Pink Lady, a Fuji or a Granny Smith. Avery my husband loves Red Delicious. We do eat apple pie. I like it with a slice of sharp cheddar.

" Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a ruling rightly given. " Proverbs 25:11

Oh my Maxine, you said a mouthful here!

Happy Tuesday I hope you are happy and I hope you enjoyed this!

We are happy Roger returned home from the hospital yesterday. They had made a terrible error regarding his health and gave him some medication that made him horribly sick. Then they had to admit they screwed up! It is a sad world we live in, I am happy our daughter has a friend married to a doctor so she can get some truthful information from him.

" I have chosen to be happy, because it is good for my health. " Voltaire
