Happy Tuesday and Maxine Cracks Me Up

Flamingos are large red or pink birds that live near the water and have long legs. We were in Las Vegas several years ago and went to the Fk=lamingo where these birds wander in the gardens.  We noticed two of them having a rather intimate moment. It was quite a sight to see. Then we saw some gathered indoors and it looked like a blanket of pink feathers. Another really unique creature.

I found this T shirt on a zuilly ad. I thought it was cute and very funny.  Reminded me of Linda who use to blog at A La Carte. She was a flamingo loving person and I still fondly remember her love of flamingos. I miss the older blogging days. People did giveaways and had exchanges and it was so much more personal. I found out so many fun facts about Linda when we were paired up for a Mother's Day exchange with Miz Mollye. Mollye was one of my closet confidantes. I really miss her and think of her so often. She was one of the happiest and most kind people.  Memories...I sure love to recollect.

Maxine's coffee mug says "I heart my attitude problem. I sure love Maxine. She is real. She even liked flamingos too!

Stop by Happy Tuesday and say hello or better yet, join the fun. Have a great Tuesday.

Aw...Mondays and More

Aw...Mondays Some of you know Miss Daphne.  She belongs to our son-in-law Zach and she is quiet charming little kitty. She does not like much human interaction except with Zach. But if the kids are gone or on vacation I feed her and I talk to her everyday. She is a real sweet girl and Thor he is always wanting to be her friend. It is funny how he runs alongside her but she goes into one of her many hiding places. Thor is a funny fellow. He is one of the long haired Chihuahua's. But he loves this kitty for some reason and follows her if she comes out of her hiding places.

Daphne on top of her comfy house.

Thor in his blue sweater. He has a kind soul. He is a quirky lil guy but he loves Daphne! Lulu and Mollie in their pink sweaters.

Love is....always says the best things in a lost world.

Enjoying the Weekend

We were blessed to get a reservation at Cinzewtti's an Italian themes buffet today. It has been a year since they were opened. The food was fresh and as good as ever. The desserts are amazing.

Their white fish with sauce is so wonderful and the Pasta Carbonera Y U M ! I had a few shrimp too. We also had salad and they have so many wonderful dishes. The only real difference is using tongs and large spoons to pick up your items and setting them in the used containers. I imagine their dishwashers are kept very busy.  I did not get any photos of desserts but I had a cream cheese and strawberry crepe and took a photo of it.

Here is my cream cheese crepe with strawberries and blueberries. Also they always have fresh fruit on the salad line. The lady making those crepes was very nice and they had a huge selection. I wish I could have had them all! We finished with a fresh mini cannolli , a fruit cup with yummy topping and pound cake chunkc, a mini eclair and a scoop of Spunmoni ice cream. They have so much to choose from and at our age we get a discount too. Two years ago we spent our anniversary at a nice hotel across town. They have always had this magnificent brunch. It is way pricier than Cinzetti's but they have a selection that is unbelievable. Except, they don't have crepes and that made me sad.. I have a really nice crepe pan that cooks on the stove top and I am getting good at making crepes. It is a favorite treat and we will probably make them when Hannah and Jake come to visit for Mother's Day.

Lots of prayer requests. Many needing prayer for mental health awareness, those who are traveling, needing to get to their destinations safely. So many with job loss, higher cost of living and of course, health issues. Praying to cover those who need prayer with a veil of protection and peace and calm for their hearts. Enjoy your SONday

FRIDAY IS HERE : Feline Friday and Friendly Fill In's

Some of us had this week and others did not. Ha Ha Ha This google images cracks me up. Welcome to Feline Friday

Ellen and Lorianne co host this fill in fun. They each think up two of these to share with all of us. Enjoy!

1. I never have time to finish ____________.

2. My __________can___________.

3. ___________is a cause that is dear to my heart.

4. At this very moment, I ____________.

Here are more of my answers since I joined the fun at both of my blogs:

1. I never have time to finish watching all the shows I record. We usually watch oldies.

2. My cat can whine like a baby and he isn't even a Siamese!

3. Any local animal rescue is a cause that is dear to my heart.

4. At this very moment, I am getting ready to head off to dreamland.

Sweet dreams to everyone. Happy Weekend! Praying we will return here tomorrow to do this all over again.

Thankful Thursday

I wore this outfit yesterday!. We stopped by the grocery store pharmacy to pick up Avery's script. A very elderly gentleman was waiting for his own script. He looked up at me and with a smile in his eyes, said, "I like your outfit." Talk about being thankful. It made me S M I L E through my mask. I like to have encounters like that!

The closet is too messy to show....but yesterday I spent a great deal of time organizing outfits. Now when I need to get up and get dressed I have my choice of several outfits hung in my closet. That makes me very thankful.

I love humor and am always very thankful for it. This one "police humor" made me laugh out loud.

I hope you are thankful about something today and you share it with Thankful Thursday

Finally thankful for this goofy guy! You know the story of the Three Bears, this bed is too soft , too hard, just right? This bed is obviously too small for this dude. Have a wonderful day.

Wisdom for Tuesday

This was yesterday at my house. The snow fell but only enough to cover the ground for several hours.

Sad world we live in but a God who will give you forgiveness, love and grace, all without cost.

Different interpretations of this verse.

Rest well and prayerfully thinking of you and hoping we are here again tomorrow.

Awww...Mondays and More Fun

Awww...Mondays Charles Schultz was a favorite of mine, my entire life. His characters, his cartoon strip was real life. Did you know Charlie Brown was created about the creators own life?

Did you know this is the very latest in high fashion? My grandson not only is vacuuming  but he took off his pants and put on his brothers single snow boot.

Poetry for Friday

The Reading Mother
by
Strickland Gillilan

I had a mother who read to me
Sagas of pirates who scoured the sea,
Cutlasses clenched in their yellow teeth,
"Blackbirds" stowed in the hold beneath.

I had a Mother who read me lays
Of ancient and gallant and golden days;
Stories of Marmion and Ivanhoe,
Which every boy has a right to know.

I had a Mother who read me tales
Of Gelert the hound of the hills of Wales,
True to his trust till his tragic death,
Faithfulness blent with his final breath.

I had a Mother who read me the things
That wholesome life to the boy heart brings--
Stories that stir with an upward touch,
Oh, that each mother of boys were such!

You may have tangible wealth untold;
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be--
I had a Mother who read to me.

When Rebekah attended college she loved and still loves literature.

She studied English Literature and this poem had great memories

for me and I loved reading it. When she was a high school senior

and parents were able to buy some space in the year book and we

dedicated this poem to her. Most all of the parents bought some space and

dedicated various things to their high school senior.

I worked with two gals who had young kids too and they both assumed

the school was responsibile for teaching their children.

We taught our kids many things and we have a large children's book

library to this day at our house. Some of the best memories I have were

spending time with a child on a project or reading a book and writing a

report with them. When Jeremy was in high school and studies

Religious education we had to write a paper our our marriage and

incorporate it with his. Boy was I made that young teacher did not give him

a great grade! I know we had and still have a happier marriage than most

of the richy rich parents who sent their kids to that school. I remember

the principal at the parochial school telling me, Anne, just because there

is a cross on the building, it does not mean there are Christians in it!

That Miss McManamon was right on. She was a great person and truly

cared about the well being of the children we entrusted her with.

A note about the author of this poem Strickland Gillilan.

He was born in 1869 and passed away in 1954. He was born in Ohio.

 He started out as a journalist, worked for several newspaper. He had

written a humorus poem about Irish railroaders which ended up

in Life magazine and led to swift Natioanl fame.

 I believe sometime you are in the right place at the right time.

A Poem for Thankful Thursday

 The Heart of the Tree:

Henry Cuyler Bunner

1855-1896

What does he plant who plants a tree?

  He plants a friend of sun and sky;

He plants the flag of breezes free;

 The shaft of beauty , towering by;

He plants a home to heaven aneigh;

 For song of mother-croon of bird

In hushed and happy twlight heard;

 The treble of heaven's harmony;

 These things he plants who plants a tree.

What does he plant who plants a tree;

 He plants a cool shade and tender rain,

And seed of bud of days to be,

 And years that fade and flush again;

 He plants the glory of the plain;

He plants the forest's heritage;

 The harvest of a coming age;

The joy that unborn eyes shall see-

 These things he plants who plants a tree.

What does he plant who plants a tree?

 He plants, in sap and leaf and wood,

In love of home and loyalty

 And far cast thought of civic good-

His blessings on the neighborhood,

Who in the hollow of His hand

 Holds all the growth of all our land-

A nation's growth from sea to sea

 Stirs in his heart who plants a tree.

We were watching an episode of Leave it to Beaver, and MIss Landers, the 4th grade teacher, was teaching the children this poem. I remember those school days and still love poetry to this day. I prefer the old school poetry. Modern poetry is not my favorite thing.

Anyway, I really thought about this poem since many trees were damaged or have fallen, due to the heavy snows during the blizzard. We have many old trees, primarily pine trees, in our yard. Three in the backyard and one skinny tree that needs to come down One pine tree on the front side of our house. I don't think the neighbor who went around planting these trees in this neighborhood realized, old trees vecome diseased, or weak and they need to come down. Prehaps not like a forest where thinning the trees in commonplace to acquire new growth but nonetheless, another circle of life in the life of trees.

Thankful Thursday

Sweet dreams all! Have a wonderful rest. Praying for a new tomorrow with friendship here. Thank you for stopping by. Linky will not accept my link for Thankful Thursday so I will just leave this here. Have a terrific rest and hoping tomorrow we can all be back here again.

Happy Tuesday and Maxine Cracks Me Up

Happy Tuesday Hop over to say hello and visit everyone.  This mother swan has a nice way to carry her babies around the waterways.  Our unborn daughter Rachel Lee is buried at Babyland in a Catholic cemeterey, and there is a beautiful waterway with a bridge where in the Spring and Summer Swans swim gracefully. It is a peaceful place and quite calming.  I love seeing these swans there.

I am with Maxine but I am trying to escape the cold and snow. Although we have 27 inches of snow in our area, we are expecting more tomorrow.  Praying the snow drifts away and stays away.

Today was a Happy Day at our house. The hubby's office closed so we slept in and enjoyed a nice breakfast. I made Rebekah's yummy blueberrie muffins and we fried bacon and scrambled eggs. It was a great morning. Avery and Nick worked on the piles of snow to clear a straight path so Avery could escape to work tomorrow.Tomorrow I have to get back to my chores and catch up my laundry and finish cleaning our upstairs bathroom.

i hope everyone has a beautiful new week and you are getting settled with the time change. Hoping we will be here another day and enjoy the company of others. Have a restful night .

Aw...Mondays

Mother and Daughter: Lulu and Mollie. These girls had their check ups last week. They are doing excellent. All current with shots and such. They will always pose as long as a treat is invovled. Please say hi to Aw...Mondays

SNOW and the Winter Weather

Uh-Oh! Does this snow think we have room for more? I don't think so!

Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while. ~Kin Hubbard

Whether the weather be cold, or whether the weather be hot;
Whether the weather be fine, or whether the weather be not,
We'll weather the weather whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not.
~Cardiff Camera Club, c.1921

Whenever people talk to me about the weather, I always feel quite certain that they mean something else. ~Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest: A Trivial Comedy for Serious People, 1898

Cussing the weather is mighty poor farming. ~African-American proverb

It is rather like living in a vast cosmic mood-swing here... I woke to trees iced in silver and an April sky, sunlight breaking through the clouds. ~May Sarton, 1971 February 9th

SATURDAY SNOW AND RANDOM THOUGHTS

The roads are snowy and the highway was foggy this evening when we traveled the few miles to Jeremy's house. The snow is still coming down. We are hoping it will not be as bad as weather reports had said. I can say the grocery stores were nearly empty yesterday. We had to get a few things this morning and some of the stores were stocked with many items.

This boy loves "Blippi". He was downstairs in the play area. Blippi was on the TV.

We had to make a tent around our outdoor fridge and other items in the crazy weather. The barbeque grill has a new Covered area over it and so it is staying nice and dry. That huge tree, there are baby birds in there. You can hear them chirp but I think they are warm because they are high up in the tree and that fifty plus year old tree is full.  Tomorrow I hope I can get a few more snow photos. But I sure hope we don't wake up to three feet of snow.

I love resharing this one.

This week was a rough one so starting fresh is welcoming. This always reminds me of my mom and her take on the difficulties of life.

Morning comes early and although it is the weekend, we sometime can't sleep and stick to that regular weekday schedule.

Get your rest and come back tomorrow as I am prayerful we can have another day.

Feline Friday

The bible has a lot to say regarding animals.

I love searching the bible for answers. God gave us dominion over animals but He expects us to care for them not harm them.

6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. 7 The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest. 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORDas the waters cover the sea.

Happy Tuesday

Leo received his orthpedic bed back in November 2020. The pups love to sleep on it too but he makes sure he is front and cener at night. There was a time Leo hated the other dogs and cats to have any beds, so he would be very naughty and destroy them.

His face often looked like this! Gee, what I was sleeping and the bed, well, it just blew up! Noelle has  Dallas Cowboy throw pillows. Welllll.....Piper decided she needed to eat one. Not as tasty as she thought. But she did get into some serious trouble.  I hope you visit Happy Tuesday
