HOME WHERE THE HEART IS
Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.
This week let's talk about home or the house in which you grew up.
1. What do you think of this picture.. the staircase. Do you like how it looks? Does it say "home" to you? It is very lovely. I love the stairs although as I get older I prefer one level. Sad to say.
Would you like something that looks like this? I sure would! Very precious and looks like someone's home.
2. Did you love growing up in your family home? Could you live in a house like that today? Absolutely. My childhood home was built by my dad in 1946 when my older brother was getting ready to be born. It faced the most glorious view of Pikes Peak and I dream about it still today. Never took that view for granted and never will.
3. What did your bedroom look like when you were a teen?
I had a HUGE bedroom but shared it with an older sister. When dad remodeled in the 1960's he let us paint the room lavender. Funny because my sweet husband let's me have the lavender drapes and a butterfly bedroom with lavender tones.
4. What kind of vibes or atmosphere do you like to foster in your home today? Sophisticated, homey? We have five long haired chihuahuas so they think everything belongs to them. I am going to get a matching recliner like my husband or close to it this summer. God willing. I just love comfort and am not into perfect living room spaces. It's just me. My folks lived in our home and we do that here too.

My Denver Nuggets won their first game in OKC against the Thunder last night. Unfortunately, I had a terrific headache so I was in my bed as the game started. It was bittersweet because Aaron Gordon, our power forward won the game with a last minute throw that hit that basketball and won the game! Aaron loves basketball and since losing his older brother Drew in an auto accident last year, Aaron had his two small nephews with him at the press conference. His sister-in-law moved here with the kids to be close to phamily. It is just something in Aaron's character that I truly admire. He is dedicated to his sport and even asked to change his number to 32 which his brother wore when he played.
John Wooden was one of the greatest football coaches in the college games. He coached at UCLA and he said of character: " Be more concerned with your character than your reputation because your character is what you really are , while your reputation is merely what others think of you
Although bittersweet, the first game in a long series was special. So it made me happy even with bittersweet moments.
My nephew Ed, who I blogged about at BIG ED AND BIG FOOT at my other blog passed away one month ago today. I wrote about him so I will share one of his loves. Ed loved going into the woods searching for BigFoot.
I found the best t shirts I am going to twin with Avery in. We are going to remember Ed and his love of BigFoot. I will post a photo when we get our t shirts. Please visit Happy Tuesday
"Im a romantic, I would like Bigfoot to exist. I've met people who swear they have seen Bigfoot, and the interesting thing is , every single continent , there is an equvialent of Bigfoot or Sasaquatch. There's the Yeti, the Yowie in Australia, the Chinese Wildman and on and on and on. " Jane Goodall

Too colorful for me. We have stairs and it would be nice to live in a one story. Oh well. We have a way to put an elevator in if need be.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. More healing hugs on the loss of Ed. ♥
Those were really interesting answers and I'm sorry about Big Ed. I'm headed to your other blog to catch up.
The staircase is beautiful but it wouldn't work with my taste for my house. I would admire it at someone else's place.
Congratulations to your team on their win and I do hope you are feeling better.
My heart grieves with you for your loss.
Nice to see a post from you. I missed you. XO
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your nephew "Big Ed". He sounds like he was a fun kind of guy. I enjoyed your answers on the Tuesday 4. Like you, the stairs are homey and beautiful, but not for me anymore. How wonderful the home you grew up in with the view of Pikes Peak! WOW! that must have been amazing!! It's good to hear from you again. Please stay in touch!
I am not a fan of lots of stairs as I get older. But it is pretty for whoever lives there.
Thank you, I appreciate you and you always make my day with all the meows and smiles at your blog.
Thanks! Each day I try new things trying to get back into the swing of things. I appreciate your kindness.
I have missed you too. Hope you are all doing well. Thank you.
Thank you. He was a fun person and boy oh boy he loved the kids & grands. Oh how I miss seeing Pikes Peak. My cousin Savannah's husband Nick has a tiny little house in Trinidad Colorado. He rents it out but oh my they have the most amazing view of Mount Princeton. Another spectacular view. I will be here. Thank you.
Hello Anne...Thanks for stopping by Writing Straight from the Heart. I don't know how, but I missed the part about your having surgery. What did you have done? And SO SORRY about the little grands in the terrible accident. The fact they are alive and recuperating is a double miracle and lots to be thankful for, for sure. Take care, dear Anne.
I'm sorry about your nephew. I enjoyed your answers and sharing your memories.
Thank you Susan. I had a tumor on my left carotid artery. It is more common in women than men. It has been hard as there is permanent nerve damage and it is hard to get use to it. Yes the boys are real tough little guys. They have been through so much and keep rebounding. I hope you have a wonderful weekend Happy Mother's Day!
Thank you Kirstin. I appreciate your kindness. Memories really get us through tough days for certain. Take care
Sending hugs regarding Ed.
I enjoyed reading your answers and all of your special memories.

I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew's passing. I am a fan of Bigfoot as well, and up here in northern California people it is said that people have had sightings of Bigfoot. One of the sightings was near a waterfall, such a pretty area. I like your answers on home, and it reminded me of the house I grew up at too. My dad built the house, and me and my sister shared a big bedroom. Your lavender room sounds delightful with the butterfly theme.
Happy Mother's Day to you. I hope your day is special.

ps.....I'm sorry your surgery was a difficult one and it left you with permanent nerve damage. Saying a prayer for you right now.
Thank you for the kindness. Ed was quite a wonderful person and he loved his phamily dearly.
Thanks Sheri, it is good to know so many wonderful blogging friends. I appreciate you.
You are very kind. It has been a hard process but my friend Debbie in Tennessee had what was a minor surgery for female problems and turned into a nightmare as she had a terrible reaction to the anesthesia. She is still in a rehab center so prayers for her are also very welcomed. Thank you.
Ooh, I would love an elevator. My husband's late oldest brother had his former in-laws living under his roof and the MIL had one of those chairs but you need a wide staircase for that. I would much prefer an elevator. Many years ago at a Parade of Homes event there was a house and it had three levels and the coolest open elevator ever! I am like a small kid in those. The Children's Hospital here had a glass elevator. I was gleeful to visit our grand boys when I was able to use the "cool" elevator.
