Tuesday4

Summertime and the Living is Easy

Well we hope it's easy anyway.

 Welcome back to  Toni's Tuesday4

Always good to have you here.

Let's concentrate on the little bit of summer

that is left, shall we? we need to enjoy every

season to the fullest,  I believe...what say you?

Not much more of summer left so we better

 enjoy it while it lasts.

1. What do you like to do in the summer?

I like to relax indoors. I am not a fan of extreme heat

or extreme cold. I was born and raised in Colorado, still

live here and we get hot summers and cold winters.  I do

like yard work when we have cooler days and it is always

nice to have a garden . Love all the flowers blooming too

but my most unfavorite thing are the wasps/hornets - evil

devil biting/stinging/creepy bugs!

2. What is your favorite summertime food and beverage?

Love barbeques in the summertime and lots of ice cold tea. Our

son-in-law(s) all are great barbeque grillers so there is always a

nice variety of foods to eat. Corn on the cob on the grill is a favorite.

3. How do you beat the heat?

With central air and lots of fans too on hot hot days. My auntie Ang

always had hand fans and I have them too. I recently bought two

new fans in pink and blue and they have the prettiest designs and

their own carrying case.  I love baseball in the summertime so I

have suffered in the heat to attend baseball games. You learn to pay a little

extra to sit under cover. hahaha

4. What do you really like about the summer season?

The number one thing about the summertime is that our

youngest daughter Hannah and her husband Jake always

come for a visit. Kids are out of school so there is lots of

phamily time too. All of our kids except our oldest are summertime

babies. Noelle & I are December babies and of course, Avery, my

husband is a summertime baby too. Lots of birthday parties.

Life has been battering us with sadness lately. My niece Carrie's husband has been hospitalized and terribly ill. I have learned to keep my medical information  knowledge to myself but I ask for prayer. After two weeks at one hospital facility he was transferred to another and they told his phamily he was not going to make it through tonight.  This after the other place said he had West Nile . Please pray for John and his wife, his children and his brother. They have lost so many loved ones .

THE CYNICAL PHILOSOPHER

I just read that 4,153,237 people got married last year, not to cause any trouble but shouldn't that be an even number?

Today a man knocked on my door and asked for a small donation towards the local swimming pool. I gave him a glass of water.

My daughter dosen't trust me anymore. At least that's what I found written in her diary.

If I had a dollar for every girl that found me unattractive, they would eventually find me attractive.

I find it ironic that the colors red, white, and blue stand for freedom until they are flashing behind you.

When wearing a bikini, women reveal 90% of their body... men are so polite they only look at the covered parts.

A recent study has found that women who carry a little extra weight, live longer than the men who mention it.

Relationships are a lot like algebra. Have you ever looked at your X and wondered Y?

America is a country which produces citizens who will cross the ocean to fight for democracy but won't cross the street to vote.

Did you know that dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish?

My therapist says I have a preoccupation with vengeance. We'll see about that.

I think my neighbor is stalking me as she's been googling my name on her computer. I saw it through my telescope last night.

Money talks ..but all mine ever says is good-bye.

You're not fat, you're just... easier to see.

If you think nobody cares whether you're alive, try missing a couple of payments.

I always wondered what the job application is like at Hooters. Do they just give you a bra and say, “Here, fill this out?”

I can’t understand why women are okay that JC Penny has an older women's clothing line named, “Sag Harbor.”

My therapist said that my narcissism causes me to misread social situations. I’m pretty sure she was hitting on me.

My 60 year kindergarten reunion is coming up soon and I’m worried about the 175 pounds I’ve gained since then.

Denny’s has a slogan, “If it’s your birthday, the meal is on us." If you’re in Denny’s and it's your birthday, your life sucks!

The pharmacist asked me my birth date again today. I'm pretty sure she's going to get me something.

On average, an American man will have sex two to three times a week. Whereas, a Japanese man will have sex only one or two times a year. This is very upsetting news to me. I had no idea I was Japanese.

The location of your mailbox shows you how far away from your house you can be in a robe before you start looking like a mental patient.

I think it's pretty cool how Chinese people made a language entirely out of tattoos.

Money can't buy happiness, but it keeps the kids in touch!

The reason Mayberry was so peaceful and quiet was because nobody was married. Andy, Aunt Bea, Barney, Floyd, Howard, Goober, Gomer, Sam, Earnest T Bass, Helen, Thelma Lou, Clara and, of course, Opie were all single.
The only married person was Otis, and he stayed drunk.

Dreaming of Lake Tahoe and Sunday Stealing

Avery found these photos in a folder on his computer. Our honeymoon at Lake Tahoe, Nevada in May 1984. Oh we were so young. What glorious memories.

"Where there is love, there is life." Mahatma Ghandi

"The heart has it's reasons, which reason knows not." Blaise Paschal

SUNDAY STEALING:

1. Your favorite sport:

     Baseball

2. A quote to live by"

"Science can only flourish in an asmosphere of free speech." Albert Einstein

3. A city in the US you would like to move to"

Not a city, but a state, Maine, part time.

4. Three beautiful little things in your life:

1, faith 2. hope 3. love

5. What made you laugh today:

My husband with his silly sense of humor.

6. A good deed you did today:

Smiled at and spoke to a stranger at the restaurant we were at.

7. Activities you like to do when you are bored:

I should write a post about them. Searching for clothes and really just to look at the fabric and prints because the Good Lord knows, I do not need anymore clothing. There are others, researching old friends, playing trivia. I once scored 100 percent on a trivia quiz about Frida Kahloe! I am not a creative artist, but I know art.

8. Are you a procrastinator?

Yes, somedays it takes me all day to do nothing that I Need to do. Recently, a friend lost her husband. It took me two months to mail a card to her. It was a hard loss. There are never any words.

9. Your thoughts about dying.

I do not dwell on it but I know it is probably going to happen to us all. But as a Christian , my greatest hope is to be taken in the Rapture. As a child my stay at home mom took me to many funerals. I was never afraid of death because of the way my parents handled it.

10. What super power would you like to have?

To spread kindness and rid the world of hatred.

11. Top three Netflex series.

I am more comfortable watching old shows like Perry Mason, The A Team, Gunsmoke. The Carol Burnett Show.

12. Things you want to do before you die:

Visit Maine, read more books and live vicariously through them and learn about far off places, I know I will not be able to visit.

13. Your biggest fears:

I don't like being alone, claustrophobia, so not a fan of elevators, extremely large crowds, and darkness when I cannot sleep.

14. What makes you angry?

What is happening to America.  I don't dwell on it. I know why it is happening. So I stay away from the news, people who stir the pot and do what I can to hang on to the values I was taught.

15. Do you listen to podcasts?

Yes, there are a few I do enjoy listening to. In fact I have always had a better state of mind listening to the radio, back in the days, when I was a carefree child.

Thankful Thursday and Feline Friday with Pink Saturday

These cute kittens were a google image find.  They are a purrfect match for not only Thankful Thursday But they are the cat's meow for Feline Friday and a match for Pink Saturday

I do love felines and canines as well.  If I had lots of open spaces I would keep all these cute kitties.

I found this cute sign at the Dollar Tree. It is a good match for Thankful Thursday

A few August memories. I was reading my bible on the patio on Tuesday morning, when a nuisance arrived! It was a chattering, noisy squirrel making a lot of noise at my next door neighbors low lying bush. He interrupted my quiet time. So into the house I went to shut my bedroom windows and enjoy real peace and quiet.

Lots of good memories from August. I hope the thankful continues into the remainder of this year.

A little canine vs. feline humor for you to enjoy!

Enjoy the Thankfulness all around you  today and always.

Aw...Mondays

Aw...Mondays

A Pinterest find, a sweet little Chi. Our pups are long haired Chi's and they are all so cute.

Love is....is always a favorite. I am working on getting all of my old newspaper clippings of Love is...put together so I may share them here. There are literally hundreds of them I gave my husband through the years.

Hello and welcome to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday4

Let's share our home secrets with one and other. Maybe you have some ideas other ladies would love to hear about.

1. What household  tool or appliance  do you reply on a lot?

The Swiffer jet wood wood mop. We have hardwood floors in the kitchen and living room (came with the house)  and that little Swiffer cleans up quickly especially with grandkids visiting. I do love my old fashioned crock pot and my air fryer. In modern homes, like our son Jeremy, they have the air fryer built right into their fancy stove.

2. Which laundry detergent, fabric softener,  and dish detergent work best for you?

We use All for sensitive skin but also use Tide Coldwater for delicates which include most of my clothing.  We use Downey Free for fabric softener. Dawn dish washing soap and Cascade for the dishwasher.  I also have different cleaners for the d/w and garbage disposal but we clean all of our drains monthly with baking soda, vinegar and hot water. It keeps the drains clean and clear of debris. Dawn has a cool product here:

This cuts through grease and grim and gunk quick fast!

3. What soap do you like to use ? Where do you have soap in your home...bathroom, kitchen, shower?

We use scented anti bacterial hand soap in the bathroom and at the kitchen sink.  IN the shower we use Irish Spring (original scent) and I recently am trying Dove body wash for women to see if it does leave your skin as silky soft as their commercial states!

4. What is the secret to a clean home in your opinion?

I dislike carpet but it is all through the house. With pets you need to run a vacuum and sweep and mop daily to cut the hair and dust bunnies.  It is a chore that has to be done daily.

Feline Friday

A purrrfectly wonderful share for Feline Friday. There is an expression I love regarding felines too:

Asking a girl to calm down is like baptizing a cat! You know it is not going to end well.

Cats are very intelligent creatures. I have one who carries on when his food bowl is not filled precisely at the very moment he rises from his slumber. It is a tough life, but somebody has to live it!

Pink Saturday
Oh my goodness, I love this pink perfection in a classic Chevy Bel Air. My older brother drove one in the 1960's but it was a dusty mauve and gray two tone car. This was a Pinterest find but what I would give to have a beauty like this. Sigh.....get some pink today.

Aw...Mondays

I lose my phone all the time! I have had to call to my son to help me locate it! hahaha back in my younger days I never lost my phone. It was attached to a cord in the wall!  Just an  Aw...Mondays smile.

Dinner Out

Let's talk about restaurants and eating out, ok?

1. Do you like eating out with friends or would you rather have them over for a meal?

We have more phamily over over for meals but Avery and I do like to go out to breakfast on the weekend. We love the Grumpy Egg

This little cafe has freshly made donuts and fritters and other pastries made daily. Avery loves their "big as a dinner plate" apple fritter but he takes 3days to eat it!

The atmosphere here is sweet and friendly and the food is always prepared hot and delicious.

Some of their dishes include, a breakfast burrito (Rebekah's fav), corn beef hash with eggs (Zach's fav) and eggs with sausage patties and hash browns. (Avery's fav)

A friendly locally owned cafe with great help and wonderful food. The prices are very good too.

2. Let's go out to eat. You pick, where are we going?

If you don't mind meeting me in Las Vegas, Nevada, Blueberry Hill has one of the largest menu's I have ever seen. It has been several years since we have visited but the menu is delicious, service is terrific, prices are still decent and it is off the ultra expensive strip!  Crepes for me with blueberries, Avery enjoys an open faced roast beef sandwich with brown gravy and green beans.  Hannah is a classic eggs & toast with hash browns kinda gal and Noelle is the model with the menu! Nick had his standard fare, chicken tenders with french fries. Boy oh boy, I would love to take you there. You can visit one of their four friendly locations in fabulous Las Vegas Nevada!

3. What are you going to order tonight?

We took our son-in-law Zach out for lunch at the Red Lobster last weekend. It was his birthday. We all enjoyed the fresh seafood and Rebekah tried their new bowl, she loved it. Avery is a Walt's shrimp guy and I will have it all. There is nothing on a seafood menu I won't try.

Speaking of food if you travel through Wyoming, our grandson Colton, the truck driver said he would recommend the Pizza Palace in a town called Lusk, Wyoming. It is family owned and he said the food portions were so big he had to pack most of it away to take home with him.

Our recent visit to Denny's had Colton and Shea enjoying lots of all you can eat pancakes, scrambled eggs and if you prefer to pay a little extra, a one time plate of sausage or bacon. We opted to go meatless.

My food memories are so many that if I don't stop here I will never stop writing about all the wonderful food experiences I have had with those people I love best.

4. Are you going to have dessert? What will it be?

If I were visiting Tequila's or El Mirador, both local Mexican restaurants I would share a deep fried cheesecake (Xangos) with Avery or you if you want to live dangerously.

This is a Pinterest find from Sue Lau at Palatable Pastimes. Even once in your life, you need to have this dessert. I do recommend sharing it with a second party.

Thank you for inviting me in to this delectable blog hop. I am chronically late, as Rebekah and Zach were in  the Colorado Springs area for his camping and birthday weekend. They visited Victor and Cripple Creek and she found a bit of information regarding the passing of my maternal grandfather and uncle Tony in the Portland Gold mines in 1927 when my mother was barely a young teen. She wants us to go back with her although I will not go one mile underground into the Molly Kathleen Mine where they hold tours. Avery did that in the 1980s with Uncle Louie and Noelle as Auntie Ang and I found some shopping. Being somewhat claustrophobic, I am not a fan of tight quarters although I have been in a few caves  in national  and state parks, when I was younger. Before all my neurosurgery. Rebekah took several hours to translate some of the obituary on my grandfather and uncle Tony that was written in sLOVEnian.  I will forever love this child of mine for taking such time and care to figure out many of the words in that article.

Amy Ireland / Feline Friday

Do everything, anything, however menial, measuring it not by hours or by dollars, but by love.”

- Amy Carmichael

Friendly Fill In's please join Ellen and her co host Lorianne

These ladies do this each week and each of them select two questions to answer. I am very late but still loving to get back into this blog hop. Thank you ladies!

1. I'd like to peek into __________________'s closet.

2. I secretly enjoy ___________________.

3. There's no use crying over __________________!

4. If I don't ___________________, __________________.

My answers:

I'd like to peek into Carrie Bradshaw's closet when she was married to "Big" on Sex In the City and he had the most amazing closet designed for her. (sigh)...

2. I secretly enjoy eating "Chantilly Cake" with my husband while watching TV and eating it from the package it comes in!

3. There's no use crying over spilled milk! You know this statement! Right? When our kids were small our neighbor's youngest son Zach always spilled his milk at our dining room table. When I turned 60 a few (hahaha) years ago he sent me the sweetest message reminding me that I was very kind to him when he constantly was clumsy and spilled his milk. I always told him," there's no use in crying over spilled milk." Something my own mom always told us.

4. If I don't say what is on my mind at the moment I think of it, I will certainly forget it!

I would love to have a pink vintage truck just like this. Sigh........so cool and very pretty in pink. Please visit Pink Saturday

Tuesday4

 Tuesday4 READING IS FUNDAMENTAL

Welcome to Tuesday4. Let's talk about books and reading.  If you are not a reader substitute moves and TV programs.

1.  What book brought out your emotions and why?

That's a tough question for me. I love reading and always have. But "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee really touched my emotions. I was raised in a place where prejudice was not part of the local laws. So we never knew it, we were never taught it. It was hard to imagine the hatred people had for someone so different from themselves.

2. How has reading changed your life, for good or for bad?  What did you get out of it?

If I get caught up in reading, I don't get anything else done!   I am a cool weather reader too. I find more time in the cold months to sit and read. The Spring and summer seem to take up my time with other projects.  I believe you learn something new each day so I love diving into books and learning about people or places that I did not know about previously.  As a kid in Catholic school it was mandatory to read, and we had a huge summer reading list. I am grateful for that because I enjoyed reading and still do. But I am a hard core book with ink and paper in my hands. I have never nor will I ever, get into the  kindles, and such books. I do enjoy listening to a book on tape occasionally though.

3. Which characters do you love and which do you hate, and why?

I always root for the underdog. I dislike the bad guys or gals.  I am a simple person. I like the good characters and am not a fan of the ones who cause trouble for others.

4. What book or books do you think everyone should read  once in their lifetime?

I think each individual should find the type of reading they enjoy and read them all. I think everyone should pick up the Word of God and rely heavily on it in good times and day. I had the dearest friend and favorite aunt: .Both Sharon and my favorite aunt Ang read trashy novels, those love stories laced with  heaving bosoms and all that! ha ha! Sharon had a brilliant mind but she loved nothing better than a stack of  those books, she just liked getting away from all the real world stuff but she was also a Trekkie! what can I say? We were so opposite yet she was like a bonus sister for me. Auntie Ang loved those racy love stories and it drove my uncle nuts! He and I shared another favorite book, The Good Earth! Pearl S. Buck was an incredible writer and storyteller. I chuckled when people went gaga over Oprah and her list of bestsellers. Most of them never heard of Pearl S. Buck! If you have never read it, I suggest you do. Something about that book is just  good reading.  Finally, I am always looking for good reading. Send your favorites my way, please and thank you.

I have been away from my blog too much lately, all these health issues with Nick and Roger take my mind off this. But I am going to try really hard to catch up. I have not posted Maxine lately and I need a good dose of her snarky attitude today!

Oh Maxine we do have something in common!

Uh-oh Maxine & I really do have a few things in common!  Maxine you make my day! SMILE!

Memories of A Real Life Angel: Thankful Thursday Pink Saturday

I spent a great deal of this day attempting to get this photo on my blog. It is the very last photo I have of myself and Alastor Avery , my grandson Colton and Jacey's second son.  This was taken on August 2, 2019 on a Friday evening. We watched this precious boy and his older brother.  It was the very last time we would see him on this earth. Although the sadness is always there, my hope is to see this beautiful boy in Heaven and have a wonderful reunion with him and all those who have gone before us.
Each phamily member has different feelings and lots of wonderful stories about this little fellow. My greatest memory of him, every time I step into my shower.  I see his smiling face looking  at me as I bathed him and his brother together that Friday night. Alastor Avery was a little character. He would lookup at me and grin and hit that water hard with his hand and laugh the sweetest little laugh. Even when I would say, "Alsator Avery don't you dare splash that water at me." B O O M ! He would splash it hard and water would go flying. We would laugh and  I think of him in this sweet way every single day of my life since he went to live with Jesus in his heavenly home.

" A teardrop on earth summons the King of Heaven." Charles R. Swindoll

Thankful today for these memories, for a small baby boy who will always be 7 months old in our minds. Thankful for my daughter Rebekah who helped me navigate this technical stuff and found a way, she has the patience of Job , to get it on my blog. I on the other hand, am the opposite. I am like Jonah.  Wanting to give it all to God, and often hesitate. But I am getting stronger and leaning on Him more and more everyday.

Avery took this photo with Alastor Avery on April 3, 2019. When we lost this precious baby boy, my sweet husband said," God honored us as  we were given an Ambassador of Heaven."  We were all greatly blessed, even for a short time. Their faces are priceless in this photo and I can still hear that little baby boy cooing at this Great Grandfather. Thankful God gave him to us, even though it was not a full lifetime.

Thankful for my friend Amanda, who is mom to 8 kiddos including a set of triplets. She homeschools  her older children. She always ,always shares
these words. One of my favorite people when I was a young lady was Fulton J Sheen. These next words are his and I am so very thankful I was raised with godly parents and attended Catholic school  most of my life. I still talk to and keep in contact with many of those classmates. They are part of my prayer warriors.

My parents saw to it that we were raised in a godly manner. I am forever thankful for that. I yearn for that Heavenly reunion one day.

This is the serious sister of the "Bathtub Brothers" Harrison and Alastor Avery.  She seems serious, do not let her fool you. I had to cover her up because she said it was cold. She is like a 100 year old granny when she gets cold. Yet she is very stubborn and  went out of that tub kicking and screaming, Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, I want the bath, the bath, the bath! I know she is related to the brothers because see her finger in her ear? They all liked to lie down in the water and rush the water in their ears and complain. hahaha....they also like to tell me the water was too hot, too cold. I wondered if someone left the three bears in my bathtub!

I hope you visit Thankful Thursday. Please visit Pink Saturday also.
